Have to agree really and despite my survival interests as a "cool" kid, lol, I'm going to sympathise and try some white knighting:
1) Cheap ganking ships taking out expensive industrial "soft targets" that they can gain profit from drops, irrespective of insurance changes which a unnoticable for T1 destroyers and other cheap alternatives compared to loot gains. Certainly quick to obtain value wise anyhow e.g. do one level 4 you could buy what you need and more.
2) Poor insurance for most T2. Laughable as a means of income protection here.
3) Aggression mechanics unable to allow sensible escorting to help defend mobile assests. Ganker has the upperhand and chooses weakest targets.
4) Bounty system that is ineffectual at best, benefical to target at worst. Hence lack of direct player policing mechanic for nefarious behaviour.
5) No insurance for implants on pods. Omelette ganking becoming the fast growing sport due to KB's having isk amounts due to implants now.
6) War mechnics ineffectual due to cowardly NPC corp use, corp hopping or dropping by gankers.
7) Low skilling needs to enter the ganking profession, can start in under 2 days with destroyer. Or be neutral cargo scooper.
8) Security hits in high sec mostly useless. Especially for Pod kills. Fast ratting and other techniques can repair ship hits quickly.
9) No economic power to inflict on perpertrators. i.e. can't exclude sales or employ commercial leverage due to free market even with low security or alt use.
10) Disrespected simply as carebear for trying to fullfill an important role in the game.
All in all its a sad list which when you look at it makes the idea of trying to be an industrialist futile, though commendable for putting up with so much bias. Interestingly I wonder wether the ganking behaviour is accepted purely to maintain the losses of infrastructure due to the lack of suitable isk sinks elsewhere, be interesting to know wether plexing by industrialists also supports the game more than other areas also as a result.
So what can you do:
1) Boycott industrailist work? Others will just try to continue and capatalise on your inactivity I expect but might be worth it in the long run "IF" a noticable economic downturn can be seen, especially if you have the opportunity to do other things in the meantime, improve the teeth and so on if not currently. It would remove targets/opportunity in the meantime.
2) Leave the game. Wouldn't be surpised if this is already happening.
3) If you can't beat them, join them. Although in this case its not even treading water, it's just refusing to continue being a Pinata.
Wether all the above is in the best interests of the game I'm unsure, but looking at it in context the "pew pew" lazy kids have it so very easy. Wether the trend of keeping any player policing techniques will simply remain and end up ruining EvE I wouldn't want to speculate. Not that I think some really care. But don't be apathetic about it, petition CCP, readdress the balance as something needs to change.
(I fully expect the QQ more responce from some as opposed to a rational undersatnding from this, but i just had to make it plain of how one sided some are in determining an unfair brokerage of game fun as a result) |
