Hello to everyone!
I'm a mission runner (so far) and I want to make the transition from my Maller (Loved it so far) to a battle cruiser, so I can start running LVL3 Missions.
I trained most of the staff for a Harbinger (1 skill remaining), but to be honest I cannot resist easily this beautiful new ship that joined the Amarr Armada.
My question is, does it worth it?! Can I run LVL3 Missions with an Oracle instead of a Harbinger? If yeah, any good fittings to share?
Thanks for your time! |

Large guns are not going to be optimal for the cruisers and frigs encountered in level 4's. One frig gets through, and you're pretty much dead. |

It's a bad idea. The major problem is that the Oracle lacks a drone bay, which means frigs will get in under your guns and sink you slowly. The secondary problem is that it requires you to train large guns, which takes a significant amount of time that you wouldn't need hopping in to a Harbi. There are other problems, but those are the biggest. Stick with a Harbi for L3s.

I see.. Everything and everyone is pointing me to the Harbinger Direction. The sad thing is that it's the only Amarr ship that I don't like (Designe wise).
Since we are here, what's the roll of a ship like this?! |

Go for a Harb, it will sweep the floor with an Oracle in regards to PVE.
If you really don't want to fly the Harb due to positively loathing its looks, then you could fly the fat pigeon that's the Prophecy. Sure it's not as good as the Harb, but it's not actually a bad ship.
An Oracle might work at really high gunnery skills alongside dual webs (to get around the lack of small drones problem). I suspect not though as it would be a rather gimped fit, it's really a PVP boat. |

PvP.
They are Fast and Agile DPS Pumps that can hit to long range with an Ok tank. Usually 40-50k EHP
Basically they are Battleship DPS you can bring on Cruiser / Battlecruiser Roams.

Fitting it with Tach's and doing good dps at medium-long range or fitting Mega pulses and doing great dps at medium-short range before you get tackled and die. |

You Amarrian infidel! Don't you dare to question the looks of our shiney harbinger!
But now being serious: Take the harbinger, with low skills and without drones you will probably be scrammed to dead with a Oracle. ~ When everything fades away, an echo is the only sound that will remain ~ -á-á~ Chaos is a name for any order that produces confusion in our minds ~ |

^ This.
My Oracle atm can target and snipe at 108k before falloff, and has 35k EHP atm with one build.
I can shorten the range a bit, and increase the tank by 10k or so.
There is also a Pulse build Ive seen with heavier tank and hard hitting but much shorter range for supported ganks.
Will be interesting to see how these ships are fitted out and used as things progress. My favorite patch to date. |

Best tactic if you have to use one of these new BC in PVE would be to fit for range and speed and kite the enemy. You should be able to hit frigates at long ranges.
Not many L3 missions will scram you, so worst case you have to come back with something to kill the annoying spider drones. |

If you ever fly a oracle in pve it takes 1 scram frig and you're stuck in the site until dead or get help, big guns + no drones = bad combo.
If you wonder why oracle is a bad choice let me explain how signature resolution on guns work.
Every gun have a sig res, this is how good it is at hitting stuff depending on size. Every target have a signature radius, this is how big they are. Every gun have a tracking speed, this is how good they are at following targets. Every target have a angular velocity to you, this is how fast they are moving around you.
The hit equations tracking part looks like this (sig radius/sig res * angular velocity/tracking speed) This means that your tracking is multiplied by sig radius/sig res, lets take a mega pulse laser vs a rifter as example.
Mega pulse laser = 400m sig res Rifter = 35m sig radius 30/400 = 0.075
So your already low tracking on the pulse laser (0.04219) is multiplied by 0.075 and ends up being 0.00316425 vs a rifter, you will never hit it unless its at a very long range or the rifter is sitting still. |
