Depending on the amount of ore mined a laser should have a used level. When that level of use is maxed the laser has to be recharged. --------------------------

Nice idea. Currently mining costs the players nothing but time and maybe one or two scratches in the lower sec systems. Implementing some sort of cost should makes things a little more interesting.
You can also create different more expensive crystal types that could allow you to mine out more ore per minute but cost more or last less time.

I kinda like this. Though aging crystals should apply to all laser types. They would still have the advantage of not haveing to hual ammo, so the crystals should have a fairly long life span.

Well that would seriusly nerf the lasers... I mean, they are only useful atm because u dont need ammo, if they actually would need ammo noone would use them, since projectiles dont use any cap...

Re-read what he typed.
He didn't say anything about lasers having ammo, in FACT he said flat out they shouldn't. The only thing agreed on there was that the crystal used in the laser should have a lifespan of x ammount of shots. You wont need to replace it for say...a month of heavy fighting.

I dont think it should be changed for combat lasers simply because they put a big drain on the ships cap which is the balancing factor in that case. Mining lasers however do not do this and therefore need some sort of cost involved.

Minning lasers have a large CPU need, and that need get larger as you upgrade, in the same way that cap drain increases for combat alsers. I had to locade a CPU upgrade to use my current mnning lasers. I could argue that this a balancing cost.

yeah but when you are going mining in high sec space you dont need the cpu or power for anything else. And ppl that go low sec mining virutally always have other escorts to cover them.
All the cpu needs do is limit the number u can fit, however, on a bs this isnt even a factor.
