Ello o/
I've have wanted to visit Iceland ever since I did a geography project on the country in primary school. I've always been fascinated by the landscape. Fanfest gave me the perfect excuse to bite the bullet and head on up there!
I didn't want to head to Iceland (a place I've wanted to visit for almost two decades) without taking a decent camera. In January I bought an entry-level DSLR and have frantically been learning everything I can about photography since.
I thought I'd share some of these photos with the EVE community and maybe get some feedback? I'm a very new newbie in the world of photography. Please don't bash too much :P
I would highly recommend Fanfest to any EVE player - casual or uberserious. It's really brings home the fact that EVE is unlike any other game out there. But on top off Fanfest, you get to see some pretty spectacular scenery. I live in Scotland which is a very beautiful country. But until you see Iceland, you ain't seen nothin'!
For any CCP devs - there are a couple pictures of the CCP HQ there, including an HDR of the boat you have out-back. Does that boat actually belong to CCP or was it just left there one day?
My Iceland 2011 Set on Flickr 42 Megapixel (22563 x 1845) Panoramic of +Pingvellir / Zoomable version.
Feedback is much appreciated!
Edit: most of the photos are Landscape since they don't require people to stand around as I figure out the settings. I'd end up with a lot of photos of bored people :P |

Moved to Out of Pod from EVE General.
I believe the boat outside is part of the Maritime Museum and was one of the boats that fought in the Cod wars. |

It's a Nikon D3000. Pretty good camera to start out with - it has loads of handy help screens.
I've updated my original post with my excuse of why there are few people in the photos. People get bored with me saying "uhhh, two minutes two minutes" as I try to figure out the correct settings :P

I knew there was something fishy about it!

That's one of the cheapest entry-levels! You can go pretty mad with them. "Moderate" level cameras could see you pushing out -ú600. Then add on top of that all your lenses and filters... and nifty bags and spirit levels. It can get a bit expensive!
I'm no expert in cameras at all but I really do like Nikons. I suppose it's all about what you want to do. If you want a no-fuss point and shoot, look at the higher-end compacts. If you want to get into photography but don't want to spend the money on a DSLR, have a look at the bridge cameras (they are between compact and DSLR). This is the one I was looking at before I decided to splash out on the SLR. It's packed full of features including high-def video recording.
Of course, if you just want to have a bit of fun, check out these Lomo cameras. They are film cameras and you can get them really, really cheap. In fact, the cheaper are better. The colours and effects you get are really cool :D |

DAAAAAYUMM nice pics, bookmarked them to show them off as the only cam I had was on my phone, almost useless. The scenery was immense, and I didnt get a chance to see the CCP building =(
Also pretty sure we talked a few times, might remember me as the perpetually drunk Irishmen who lost his voice |

I think we did talk. I can remember drunken Irishmen anyway!
We hired a car for the first couple of days. To get me "acclimatised" to driving on the wrong side of the road, in snow, at night, in an automatic... we headed to the CCP offices. We met GM Nova there who must have thought we were terrorists / blizzard spies.
I'm not sure how I would feel if some random geeks started taking photos of themselves outside my workplace. |

Would you mind me linking these to people? If I do, would you prefer I use your name or your character's name? |

You're right - it's in a wee square kinda thing. I caught it out the corner of my eye. I had just finished saying how crazy the street art is in Reykjavik, saw this and LOL'd heartedly :) |

Those are some great shots especially given you're just starting to get into photography.
Keep up the good work |
