With a new Amarr emperor soon to asend to the golden throne I believe it is time to call for an end of the opressive slavery that has caused a divide in the galaxy for so many years.
I call for all that consider themselves champions of freedom be you Amarr, Gallente, Caldari or Minmatar to raise your voice and cry for freedom for I believe that not even the Amarr empire can withstand the popular oppinion of the rest of the Galaxy. To the new emperor I say this, continue the work of your predessesor and silence voices from within trying to drag you back into a dark past. Free all the slaves in the empire and you will be remembered for all time as the champion who ended thousands of years of oppression. |

I weep for how little you seem to comprehend the case in which you involve yourself Gallente. ------------------------------------------

Edited by: Dagoth IronJaw on 06/11/2003 17:40:46 The Gallante speaks the truth. You Amarrians have no right to consider yourselves rulers of our kind. I too call the new ascending emperor to order and end of the oppression that the Minmatar have endured for an age. This slavery cannot go on, either realise now... or through a mirror made with the blood of your empire.

I wonder - what exactly will happen if the new emperor does indeed keep up the policies of the late emperor...
...and continue to do nothing about slavery.
What? Did you think nobody noticed that the beloved man of peace, the winner of the Adonis, didn't really abolish - or even fight - slavery.
Oh, he may have been attempting a slow change for the better. Most conservatives do. Yet there is surprisingly little grey area between being a slave and being free.
My personal views? I'm withholding them. Just consider me a social commentator. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

I made similar comments shortly after his death when he was being hailed as a hero by Amarr and Minmatar alike.

Freeing the slaves will not result in peace between the Minmatar Tribes and the Amarr Empire, but it will definitely increase our numbers so that we can finally have our day of reckoning.
We have been wronged, we have been killed, we have been stripped of our humanity, and the universe would expect us to simply forgive and forget? Never!

Hm... I do understand your reservations against the Amarr, or at least I think I do... but do realise that these kinds of statements will not be very helpful for getting as many captive Minmatar free as possible.
The less force I have to use, at least, the better... every time I blow up a slave transport, I have to look at one freezing, choking, dying human being for every two captives I rescue... I do not know how it is for you, but it gives my every liberation-mission a bitter, bitter aftertaste. |

Have you seen today's news? Doriam Kor-Azor (in his wisdom) has taken the first step to peace with the Republic by releasing hundreds of their kind.
At last. The Amarr have shown that they aren't so tough after all --------------------------------------------

The journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. Some might say Doriam Kor-Azor is merely shuffling and scuffing dirt, and making no actual steps at all, but time will tell.

If I may speak, and add a bit here.
I belive totally that slavery must end, but sadly I don't see how it will be done with the storms growing within the Empire. I belive this is all a very delicate situation not so easily solved by freeing all the slaves at once.
I'm also not sold on the new Emperor's will to make peace with the Minmatar Republic, or end slavery within his boarders. Not with all the dead as a result Vitoc withdrawal. Maybe it was a tragic mistake, maybe not. Time will only make this clearer.

I just heard the latest news about ex-slaves dying of Vitoc deprevation or similar causes- a big shock indeed, to see an act of humanity, at least apparently so, plunge to a level of sheer sadism. I believe... I wßnt to believe that some bigot faction of Amarrians is setting Doriam Kor-Azor up. Amarrians out there, please tell me I am right, and that we are right to have a little faith in the Amarrian Empire! |
