If you read the player news section, you would see that these are not 'server problems'. CCP has been upgrading their server hardware, and in order to do this they need to take the server down. -=^=-

Yeah but the crashes 2 days before and 1 day before the scheduled downtime weren't im assuming.
Edit: in fact, lately, if there was an award for most MMO Server Crashes in a year, Eve would win it

No, crashes do happen but not frequently, they also dont happen as much as the flamers like to try and make people think they do.
The server has just had a major upgrade so we can expect a few days of slight bumps while everything settles down and the odd problem can be expected.
This is the first crash for me within the last 6 weeks (excluding the 24h upgrade downtime)
There have been some problems with CCP's internet providers that caused alot of America players to get thrown off eve on 31st / 1st but that was out of CCP's control (same as you loosing internet access but your neighbour still working fine), all they could do is shout at the provider to fix the problem. ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.

It fluctuates a LOT. I remember one week a few months ago we had 6 server crashes in 6 days. Then it's fine for a while.

Yup, its normal that there is some issue with the server/game somewhere. Normally, however, you are able to work around it to get an enjoyable gaming experience.
Major issues recently have been lag. There has always been lag issues in large fights, but there has been lag even when few people have been around. There have been some other bugs (POSes), but they will not be concerning you at the moment.
The good news is that CCP do care and seem to want to do something. Time will tell if that desire to fix things proves successful :)

IMO the only time when we get problems like this normally happen only at patch or server upgrade times
the worst ive seen in my short 14 months of playing was during a hardware upgrade ... but they always seem to get over the problems in good time , i think the worst they have has to my knowlage is about a 24 hour overun ... if you have a long skill training then it wont be a problem ... omg i just realised my training finished an hour ago ... wooo is me ... ...

Yes, EVE crashes more than a hypothetically perfect piece of software.
No, it does not crash with any greater frequency than any other MMO I've ever played. In fact, I'd say there are far fewer crashes during non-deployment phases (usually almost 0).

1st. Welcome to Eve, I hope you have a nice stay. Mine has been good for over 2 years now.
The problems you have encountered are not what should describe eve, but they happen alot these days. Theres two reasons for this.
The first is hardware, thats because eve has grown tremendously large the past year, and CCP is coping with this, by upgrading servers and databases. Take a look at the recent news items to learn more.
The second is software, we are on the brink of a very exciting new upgrade to eve, which both will give all the players fantastic new toys and basically change the eve building blocks. Patches have been applied step by step, and thus the current eve is in an "in between state" ready for the final upgrade. The 24 H DT yesterday was the last step before the big one.
So stick through the problems, and you will soon see a whole new and faster eve.

i agree that theres been some lag issues but thats just because the player numbers (online at max times ) have nearly doubled in the last year ... im just hopeing that all these "blade servers " there fitting solve the problem and that its either that or something simple like them needing more bandwidth

Eve is currently on the verge of a very large content and gameplay expansion.
To compliment this CCP is bringing in a lot of new hardware to cope with the extra load.
At present there's a few teething issues with the new hardware, but these should be sorted soonÖ

It actually crashed on that night about 12hrs or so before the US outage, not a service provider fault, but a server one that time.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, i've been playing for 6 months now and the server seems to crash on average of once a week or more. It may not be an actual crash, but there will be horrible lag or many players unable to connect to the server. I'm starting to wonder when they're going to credit us for all of this lost time. Their apologies for the inconvenience are starting to become a bit empty.

No, they added new hardware, that always makes things unstable for a few days. Node crashes tend to happen on the weekends when people gather big fleets to fight each other, but that will (hopefully) be fixed when the 56 new nodes and Kali software improvements arrive some time in the next month or two.
Node crash means a server died, which causes a few dozen systems in EVE to die, but usually doesn't bring down the whole cluster.

I thought you get a real avatar on the forums after "playing for 6 months."
If you get a crash every week, then get a new ISP.

Does CCP pay you guys off to spread propaganda or something? My ISP isn't the greatest, but I think I can tell when the problem is on my end. As for the portrait, who knows. They claim a lot of things that don't come into fruition.

As a matter of fact, I pay them... oh wait, that doesn't work with your narrative about frequent crashes and a horrible game, does it?
Edit: Okay... this will be my last post on this topic so as I don't cause any more trouble for the moderators. You're entitled to your views, and I'm entitled to mine.

Nope, CCP does not pay me a penny. I do however pay my ISP ALOT more money than most other ISP's out there for a very good internet connection (My ISP is a major gaming backbone provider, eve servers are 18ms away and only 7 hops) and in 3 years of playing eve I have only once had an ISP problem and that was actually when level3 (my god, they come up frequently as a problem provider) dropped connections randomly and I crashed every 2 mins. ----

Regardless of how you feel in the moment, YOU WILL love CCP for the end result.
WARNING: The acuity of anguishing pain you feel when something goes wrong at any point is simply a symptom of the EVE withdrawals and you will regret anything you may say or post as a direct result.
SUGGESTION: Players age 20 and Under:
Laugh, joke, poke fun at ppl on the forums suffering as you are.
Players 21 and Over : Strawberry Margaritas, Vodka & Coca Cola, or such to your hearts desire.
(EDIT)
I myself am utilizing the Strawberry Margarita method and seems to be going well. And I have read recently that another is utilizing the Vodka & Coca Cola and all seems well.
