Try hunting in Indregulle for instance... you can't. There are like 8 POS's in the system with ships parked at every one of them. How do you scan someone out with all that junk on the scanner?

there should be a scanner option that shows ships with pod's in them and ships with no pod. _________________________________________________

They should make people actually use ship maintenance arrays instead of lagging out the POS grid. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

I've always beleived that if a player logs out in a system, their ship should still be able to be found out and destroyed.
If this is too strong, then give a reason for their disappearance. As another player mentioned, make it so that the player turns off all functions and runs 'silent', effectively falling off the scanner's menu.
If that happens, though, then ships with nobody in them should have the same actions. And players should have the ability to turn their ships off even while active. If you can do it while logging, why not while still playing.
Finally, any ship that is active should show up, even cloaked ship. Sure, make it an unidentified signal, but make it still show up. I see no reason why a cloak should distort that kind of scan.

You cannot kill a ship that is left unoccupied within a POS bubble.

Workaround: Put Control towers on your overview, then when you're doing directional scans you can work out whether a ship is at a POS or not.
