Hi, I'm pretty much a noob and am moving down to 0.0. I haven't encountered a warp bubble yet, and was hoping someone could explain to me how they are typically deployed. For instance:
1) Looks like the large ones have a range of 45k km, for bubble 90k km across? Are the large ones seen very often? Also, the smalls look kinda useless?
2) Is it correct that if you hit the edge of a warp bubble, you get sucked into the center, or does your warp simply stop where you hit it?
3) Sounds like the logical place to employ them would be right in front of the gates--is that correct?
4) If you are using instas and land right on top of a gate within the range of a bubble, is there any chance of jumping before being effected by the bubble?
5) From the item database it sounds like the warp bubble generators run continously--do gate camps have them turned on all the time, for hours, or are there reasons why they are only activated at certain times?
Thanks in advance for any info...

1) Havent seen a single large bubble so, im not even sure they are out yet, most common are the medium bubbles
2) All those entering from a common direction will be sucked to some point within the bubble.
3) Most times they are used at gates but also at station exits to keep the prey from warping off.
4)If you land on top of the gate you may have time to jump but that depends entirely on the placement of the bubble and your warp in vector.

1:Large as far as i know are somewhat rare unless its a huge allience camp like BOB.
2:It sucks you in,but not all the way to the center kinda off to the edge by a couple of kilometers.
3:They are deployed everywhere they would suck the people in,typically 10-20km away from the gate.
4:First off, bubble dont prevent you from jumping, but even if you use instas you will get sucked into the bubble and no you cant jump faster then itd warp blockedge starts.
5:Depends,if its a big allience guarding their space people will run shifts and the bubble will be up all the time unless somebody destroys it,small alliences camping for fun will take it down.

To my knowledge large bubbles don't exit yet, medium bubbles are deployed as described above

Two types of camps usually. Those trying to get people that just jumped in as they try to warp out. So yeah you usually see them infront of the gate.
But you also see camps set up to get people warping to the gate. You get some weird bubble set ups here. small/medium bubbles something like 50k behind the gate and stuff.

er, I'm missing something...how would a warp bubble set up 50k behind the gate catch someone warping TO the gate? Is that an insta gone way, way, bad, or what?

Placing the bubble behind the gate still sucks you into it even with a good insta. You end up 20km away from the gate, in a bubble, and turned the wrong way to make a run for the gate.

small bubbles are best used behind a gate by like 20km to suck people in traveling too that gate. Larges (which take a lot of cargo space and you need a hauler to bring one out) are better for on the gate camps.

ah, devilishly clever...
while we're on the topic, any real differences between a standard warp bubble and one created by an interdictor? For instance, does the bubble created by an interdictor only effect one targeted ship, or does the bubble effect everyone within a certain radius?

Interdictor spheres affect everyone in the radius. There are other quirks with dictor bubbles too, warp bubbles you have to have the bubble lined up on the same grid as the target is warping in from for it to pull them out. Dictor bubbles yank them out regardless of the grid (However they have to be deployed before the target begins it's warp)

Edited by: TheDevilsJury on 03/11/2006 20:10:32 This picture helps explain the bubble placement.
If the bubble is in the same grid as your exit should be, AND it is in line with your warp line, you will be sucked towards the center of the bubble. Not at the center, but not at the very edge either.
Bubbles prevent warping by any ship within the bubble. They do not prevent jumping.
Interdictor spheres are the same as bubbles, more or less. They must be placed before the warp is initiated. And the thing about grids the previous poster said, I did not know... ya learn something everyday :)

How long do dictor bubbles last and do you launch them at an object?
