Edited by: Darekish on 05/11/2006 23:28:16 We all know the importance of the magic +8 NPC corp standing for a corp that wants to access jump clone creation. I have now been invovled in managing 2 corps over the last 14 months or so, however recently there seems to be something different going on that i have not seen before re NPC standings.
both previously and now my corps have determined one NPC corp to use for jump clones and we recruit carefully to ensure that we dont take members who have worked for that corp or who who have a lower that +8 individual standing to the NPC corp in question. This means that we check members info before they join to ensure that they have no stading to our chosen Jump Clone corp. Because of this our corp standing to that corp is only calcualted on the basis of our members who have worked for the NPC corp targeted thus only people with a +8 or above standing towards them. In the past this has worked very well and where a member makes a mistake and asks for a mission then refuses it or does a mission or two we have worked with themto get to +8 and fix the standings so our jump clone instalation is not effected. This is normally easily spotted as the standing change is a regular amount.
NOW...
Recently we have had a spate (5 or 6 instances in a few weeks) of members suddenly developing a 0.0 (thats really odd) or a 0.01 (ish) either +/- towards our jump clone NPC corp and thus having a negative impact on our jump clone access. This is due to the average used in working out corp standings (I beleive this to be a simple average of the unmodified personal standings of members who have a standing towards the NPC corp in question). All the members invovled are vocal that they have not done misions for the corp we target or even spoken to an agent for them. When one petitioned this & was told by a GM that 'work for other NPC corps can effect an individuals standings with a different NPC corp'. I know that FACTION standings work this way however and we al know the links caldari / Amarr gains effect gallente / minmitar standings in a negative way etc.,
What im confused about is that in all the time i have been invovled in running a corp and have worked with jump clones as described above, I have never before seen the problem described above happen until a few weeks ago.
Is anyone able to shed some light on this
If this is in fact correct it makes getting a +8 standing almost impossible for any corp that includes people who are either running missions or where a corp is recruiting. Additionally there isnt even any info available on what NPC corps (such as Spacelane Patrol)are linked together in this way enabling us to advise members who to work for and who to avoid working for. Additionally it appears to be impossible to see these very low standings from a charecters info before recruitment.

Youll have to make each member get that +8 standing by themselves to insure it works. Cause what the gm said is correct as far as I know. But the whole system is ridiculus to me anyway... jumpclones are broken in my eyes and it would be nice with a complete overhaul of it all for the release of Kali.
PS: Other posters will share more light to this then I can.

I really don't understand why you need corp standings for jump clones - I would think it'd be reasonable with +8 private standings, but corp standings??? That's really hard to get.
I agree with the poster above me about jump clones being flawed.

If your corp has +8 or better standings towards an NPC corp that has cloning stations and you yourself have either +8 or better standings or no standings at all with that NPC corp, then you can get JumpClones from them.
Since most people do not have access to JumpClones there are player run JumpClone services around. If you want to get a JumpClone you can eve-mail me with the char that wants the JumpClone and I can arrange for you to get one at a reasonable price.

Jumpclones were put into the game for travel between 0.0 and empire.
Anyone living in 0.0 will be set +10 with their allies stations, so they can dock and use all services. So no hassle with standings for jumpclones.
The + 8 corp to faction standing thing was put in to stop people using jumpclones within empire.
So it looks like the gms have tweaked it to make it even more difficult than it already is.

We too have been afflicted by it. The character in question has zero standing for fed navy showing up on his standings page, but if we look at the compositions page for that corp from our corp, he shows up at 0.01.
Really irritating. ---------- My sig is boring. |
