Also, why can't I "Keep at Range" on a stargate?
Both of these would be very useful to me and I don't understand the point of not being able to do this. Anyone tell me why?

Edited by: Max Godsnottlingson on 06/11/2006 10:52:03 Not sure about the keep at range, all I can guess is the Devs have decided that there is no point in having this function as the gates don't ever move and it's easy enough for a player to just stop their ship when they are at the discance they want.
As for not being able to Approach some objects. I do think there is a bit of a 'glitch' with items at longer range. I may be wrong on this, but items at more then 200k may be on a different grid to you. So you can't do an approach, but they are also much too close to try a warp too.
All you can do is either manualy fly towards the object until you are able to use approach, or BM the object, warp away then warp to the BM.

Dunno about the 'Keep range', but you can orbit a SG. On aproaching distant objects: you can. Just doubleclick a little above or so of the object and you'll be traveling in that direction.

That's not really very accurate though is it? :)

Isn't it? I think we are talking about celestial objects? Many AU's away? But if your complain is about not being able to travel directly towards (real!) distant objects, then no, you can't, you're right about that... My solution is good enough for me. It gets me aligned enough to immediately warp away if need be.
