How about we all put on weapons instead of miners this weekend and have some fun for a change, just insure your ships and come out to play.
I cant belive that majority of players is content with just mining/chaining and hoarding up isk, and in the end they get bored and quit without even trying the most fun part of the game.
Weekends should be declared as kill on sight for all players, if you dont want to go to 0.0 then just kill in 0.4 and lower and take some sec hit, or even better, declare war on some corp and spend the weekends to hunt them down just for the kicks of it.
Doesnt matter if you loose your ships and implants, during weekdays you can mass enough isk to buy more, its a game, play it as such.

CCP should consider to have a 'free fire event' that has no consequences at all. Let it run for three or four hours and do a rollback afterwards.
A collective 'bad dream'.

Why not just 1 weekend each month, CCP would take a copy on friday downtime and on sunday there would be a rollback.
I am pretty sure that once peaple really start to use their weapons they would get hooked on the PvP aspect of the game.

Seriously, though, PvP is much much better than mining or chaining or any of that. I suggest people try it, just a couple times, see if they like it or not.

Prolly 1 every 2 months, as some noobs prolly like 2 mine on the week-end.I'd go for it for sure, would love use my very best kit in PvP, rather than the replaceable ships and modules I use now.
Of course, what you are talking about really is fightclub on Chaos, which is open any time, any where...

Omniwar, that's a great idea!
Maybe we can also declare EVE a 'hide in station' free zone all weekend so when we turn up you have to stay and play 
Station camping, ship jamming, forum spamming, milk drinking, deep thinking, gooner loving, goat hugging, pirate killer............AVE IT LARGE!!!! |

Heh.. That would be fantastic...
The huge fleets smacking the Bejeezus out of each other (lag notwithstanding) and then Sunday...poof! back to friday!

Mining is fun for me! I chat for hours with people whom I consider my friends, I need to juggle ore loads, and organize haulers and try to kill the NPC rats before they kill my harveys, while trying to keep as many harveys in the air. Going for another "Kernite Mined Record". This to me is fun.
Hunting people for hours with the off chance of getting a kill, Camping at a Gate or JIP for those 30 seconds you can shoot your guns at someone who isn't prepared to fight is no fun for me.
But do I tell you that Pirating is boring, do I tell you that you need to strip down your guns and put on mining lasers and mine with me for a few hours? No...
So please, get a grip and understand that there's more people than you who play the game with different ways of having fun.
Just because we are paranoid, doesn't mean you're not out to get us. |

It plainly sucks, lags like hell and you watch a slide show.

Nice idea but I will bring up a point. I wish people would stop trying to push their ideals onto others. So what if people are using their battleships to mine. So what if what they are doing seems pointless to you. If they enjoy it and you don't, so what! It is their choice to mine all day long. It is their choice to have what seems to you pointless goals. It is their choice to do what they want in this game. Frankly people should not complain because others choose to do something that they dont like. Some people actually like to mine! They find it excellerating in some cases! I personally think it sucks. I would rather stick red hot pokers into my eyeballs than mine for a day. But if they chose to mine, I am not going to go and try and change what they think just because I think it sucks.
Stop trying to force ideals onto people (Im speaking to everyone here, not just the poster and people who have posted) and allow them their choices. There are plenty of things that dont make sense to me, mining for hours is one. Another is senseless killing at JIP's. Some peopel do it JUST TO KILL PEOPLE. and they do it within the safety of lag. This is just as safe as mining in 1.0 space. If the other player cant fight back, then there is no risk.
I dont see the fun in obliterating helpless victims either. Might as well do say that your tachyon is a miner 2, and that ship is your scordite roid.

Thats the way this forums been since day one iv'e been here though.
People with there own agenders trying to influence others to conspire facist hate campains against others.
Maybe the original posters idea about such an 'event' had some meaning, but the gankers that then jump on the bandwagon, have nothing but there own agenders at heart, and turn it into another hate campain.

Every game forum, where the game is a mix of pvp and non-pvp elements, will have disputes like this. The debate of how PVP should be limited in mixed games has been going on since the first multiplayer computer games.

LoL you mean people actually pay an arm and a leg for modules and donĘt use them in PVP? I know if someone ever gets me down they are gunna get some good S******.

I have never met you so please do not imply that I ever hide in stations as that is something I dont do.
As for others thinking that I loath mining, I dont, I just want peaple to try out the PvP aspect of the game.
I never said that all peaple should come to us pirates to get ganked, peaple should use the "new shiny feature" called declare war, and attack another same size corp in empire space, and if they dont want to loose their hard to get bs¦s then use cruisers and frigates just for the kicks of it.

Heres what I wish they would do:
Take all the worthless lazy people in my corp who haven't been on in months and just eject their ship into random locations and let them float there.
How about if they did that with everyone? It would be like an easter egg hunt

In another space MMORPG I pld they used to have anarchy nights and anarchy weekends when their patching got buggered. It's kinda fun but it gets old kinda fast.
The persistent gameworld really needs to be kept so if they do I would suggest no where near as often as one night a month. Also a lesson the be learned. Some people love it, some hate it and will just refuse to log in. Alienating people just like that doesn't sound like a very smart move to me.
