Edited by: Zhull on 06/11/2006 13:13:54 Tried yesterday in Kali, couldn't lock cans, a message says that it only works with wrecks. So i must assume that it is intentional?

Quite possibly, yes. Just checking, though, that you did try it on your own can and not somebody else's? - Am I in the coolest alliance or what? |

Cans are nolonger going to be droped in space with 2 exceptions.
1. If you jettison something it will show up in a cargo container
2. Mission specific drops (like 10 units of special reports droped from an overseer) will drop in a loot canister next to the respective wreck.
T-beams will tractor wrecks, not being able to tractor loot cans is probably a side effect of having their use on type changed from Cargo container to Wreck. SHould not cause problems tho since cargo canisters will not drop normally anymore.

Being able to tractor jet cans is vary useful, if one is, for example, hauling for some miners.

Edited by: Zhull on 06/11/2006 14:42:46 I was testing salvaging (stealing loot from the battlefields in sisi) and cargo gets filled up quickly, so i created a jet can and tried to use a tractor beam on it.

Can you put something into a wreck and then tow the wreck around instead of a can? What is the 'cargo capacity' of a wreck?
(The test server is down at the moment, so I can't go and find out for myself, but maybe someone has already tried this...)

I tryed it and no you can not put something into a wreck, but on the bright side a wreck has infinate capacity, so that my be a solution to freighter not droping anything when poped (frieghter still don't leave anything behind, bug?).

Tractoring jetcans is amazingly useful. Here are some examples:
Missioning: Since you can't place items from one wreck/can into other loot cans/wrecks, jetting a can and collecting everything into one central location is exceptionally useful for pickup later. This will no longer be possible.
Mining: Hauling will be a pain in the ass. (Unless they put in something like warp to 0 at a gang member).
Outpost construction: Freighters cannot be used for this purpose in tq, and I doubt they can be on sisi. When you have a good 20 haulers bringing in material, it is a bad idea for them to all get close to the egg. So someone sits at the egg tractoring in cans. This will no longer be possible.
It's pretty retarded that they'd screw up tractors even worse in kali. I'd love to hear whether or not you can tractor the wreck of someone's ship (who is not in your corp). Currently if you kill someone you cannot tractor their jetcan (extremely counterintuitive considering the behavior should be the same as when killing npcs).

Ah, i hadn't thought of doing that, but come to think of it thats probably the thing that they're trying to fix. Its basically an exploit in that it lets you have any ship with a cargo capacity of 27km3 or whatever a jet can is. -----------------------------------------------

Not really since you can't warp with it. It's very useful trick letting you gather all loot, sort it out, pick what you want and blow up or leave the rest. This better be a bug.
