hi, all.
I played Eve a year ago for 3 month and then left the game for a year. I came back recently, so I have alot to learn.
Yesterday, I began manufacturing my first battleship Raven. I noticed that the factory tab has disappeared from station. (I am not sure if it's just me not searching enough stations for factories. But I remembered before I quit factories are quite common) So I used the science & industry tab (the manufacturing subtab) to manufacure the Raven. However, when I log in this morning, the raven is no where to be found. I am not sure whether I did something wrong or it is caused by a bug. If anyone can shed some lights for me that would be great.
P.S: I would love to start doing some ratting (in raven). but I heard most of the low sectors are controlled by corporations whom will kill other player on sight. I was wondering if anyone can point me to some good article to read on ratting and find some relatively safe low security sectors to rat?

in science and industry - jobs tab select "all activties", "any active state" and "me" from the filtering options and the select jobs button. you should then see you job.
if the job is completed select it and you should get a option to collect or complete it.
as for ratting with good skills you only need a crusier or a frigate so start with one of them and have a look around.

By low-sec you mean < 0.5 then there aren't any 'safe' ones, and if someone here publically states some, you can be assured the gank-happy a**holes will be there waiting for you.
