I was trying to figure out the NPC market behaviour, so I placed some sell orders.
I placed a sell order for 1,200 units of nocxium at 256 isk, at a station where it is in demand every day.
Then I placed another sell order for one unit at 255 isk.
This morning I looked for the result:
The NPC bought from my offer at 256 isk and ignored my offer at 255 isk.
Surprising!
I would have thought the NPC would prefer the lower price.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
How do NPCs choose which sell order they will buy from?
Is it the most recent order?
Is it the oldest order?
Is it the largest/smallest order?
Is this explained in clear language anywhere?

NPC's always pay the npc price, 256 isk for nocxium. But there is a limit on how much that they buy every day.

I didnt know that. I dont think it was always like that, and it sounds very wrong.

I think the rules that determine npc buy sequence are important and should be public, rather the subject of myth and rumour.
Does anyone know the actual rules?

Yes, as I said in your other thread, its LIFO. But I thought it was LIFO according to the best price, and best price was checked first before doing LIFO among identical prices. I never tried, just assumed it was made sense, but was in err, because not even LIFO makes sense, so this isnt surprising either.
