Edited by: Jaisen Isaac on 07/11/2006 22:46:56 Looks to me you have some good response times to the various routers in your tracert. 19MS is pretty good in my opinion. The graph says to me two things. One is you may be experiencing packet loss. Packet loss is caused by a couple different things, and most likely out of your control. I would contact your ISP and ask them to do a line test for packet loss. Or secondly, your DSL or Cable Modem is dropping sync which can only be fixed by your provider. If it is your DSL you may have distance from CO problem. If you have Cable Modem you could have too many users on your segment during peak times. Both of which you can not controll. However, I suspect with 19MS you may not have packet loss. Just an FYI, Routes 10,11 & 12 are not resolving their DNS name probably because this is your home Router and you don't have a DNS name on record anywhere. You could try and update your network card driver, and then running Windows Update to ensure you have all the latest security patches - if you haven't done so already.
Good Luck.

You have packet loss.
By the looks of the jpg you atached it seems to be caused by your ISP you use (hop 3). Get on the phone to them and ask them some hard questions until you get an answer you understand. Be aware that alot of the cheaper ISP's (not all though) lower the priority of anything but web browsing so that they look fast to most people but for games this makes them totally unaceptable. Its commonly called "traffic shaping" or "Trafic prioritisation". If either of those words are used in explaining why you getpacket loss I would swap ISP.
As for hops 10, 11 and 12 having no DNS name, they are not configured in the reverse DNS server database of the unit. I get no DNS names on them either and I have also noted that most other trace routes dont as well so that is nothing to worry about.
To check if its your modem or cable connection try doing a trace to the first jump after your PC (usually hop 2) for a short while, if you get no packet loss to that then most likely the problem is ISP caused. ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

Thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, I put a not so smart screenshot up there. It's not hop3 causing the troubles. (In fact, 'that' loss doesnt do anything to eve, it hardly ever occurs).
This is what I meant to show:
11 and 12 = EVE 10 I dont know, EVE's isp? 8,9 London Backbone.
This has been happening almost continuosly since november 1/2. I cant even remember when I had a disconnect before november, but now, every 15 minutes or so.
