I just had one of the most amazing fights in my eve career.. but I ended up losing 300m..
It starts off with me.. in my newly aquired pilgrim.. all skills have been trained up.. lovely fitting..
So.. Im stalking a group of 2 crusiers in 0.3.. and I was seconds from uncloaking to atack when they warp nextdoor..
So I see they dock nextdoor.. and I wait outside.. and an apoc of the same corp comes out and warps to a belt..
Im thinking "HMM if thats a mining apoc I can go ransome it.."
So. I warp in, the guy is shooting frig rats in belts with medium and a few large turrets.. been playing since 2005, I think its a viable target eh?.. No..
So, I get him to about 50% armor.. he cant hit me.. it seems to be going good..
So. his armor starts going back up.. I Dont know wtf it is, is the apocs cap recharge really that high?..
So. we go for a few more minutes.. he launches drones.. after that battle I have.. 5 small drones left and all his are dead and I start atacking him again..
I get him to about 70% armor when I notice.. im webbed.. being nossed.. and I cant warp off.. and hes about 100 meters from me.. and his armors at 100%..
WTF?
I guess he was holding off, so he could suprise me while reinforcements came.. which they did.
A rupture came at this point.. let drones out.. started mwding.. I killed him in about 45 seconds. back to the apoc.. by the way at this time I have 90% hull and my armors going back up.
So. Im telling my corp mate to get the heck down here with me.. becuase I know if this goes on, ill be stuck here till more corp mates of his come to finish me off..
so we wait like this for five minutes..
then The death dealer comes in, another apoc, mwd, nos, everything. Im dead in about a minute.. and I warp off in my pod. down 300 mill.
SO, the moral of this story?
Dont atack an apoc in a pilgrim. Bad idea.

I love those fights, don't care how they end tbh.
I just fought a guy in a prophecy in my navy vexor, the ships worth about 300m after you add in the fittings, he was **** good and the 1v1 fight at a gate (i'm flashing, his one of the few i've met so far with the balls to lock horns with me at a gate), lasted about 5 mins, nice time for a cruiser and a battlecruiser, I got trough the winner after I finally broke his tank and cap.
I seriously thought I was going to die there a few times, but you know what, I didn't care, some fights are just great fun and you'll end up smiling even if you lose.
Also lost 5 hammerhead II's trying to kill two megahtrons in my thorax earlier today, got away alive thankfully.....well ok I may be a little suicidal, but hot diggidy it's fun aint it?!

he must have had a cap booster, their is no way a BS can outnos you unless he has 4 heavy nos fitted, maybe 3 heavy nos and 3 cap rechargers and he would of been able to keep up with you nossing him
however you can beat BS in a pilgrim, but a cap boosting one will take a long time
also what where your fittings? if you had a target disruptor or 2 with decent electronic skills he shouldn't have been able to hit you at all

It's the buddy that killed him it seems.
I've killed apocs before but they obviously werent cap boosting. Fights like that are indeed fun.
I've attacked a snipey megat who put his drones on me and then his mate came in at 100km and started sniping me. I got TD's on the far away sniper but his occasional hits plus the drones on me were enough to break my tank.
I got out in structure and my target was in structure
I then went back while he was collecting my t2 meds and tried to finish what little structure he had left with 5 lights but I ended up running like a girl again
Noone died but it was one of the most memorable fights I've had.

Yeah I'm at a real crossroads right now about my training. I like versatility and really want to fly the pilgrim, but that would require training t2 med pulses. Still though... crosstraining is awesome. -- If by some chance I managed to kill you, I can assure you it was purely luck. |

you don't fit laser on a pilgrim 4 highs = 3 med nos and a covert ops cloak

very true, or if you also have a web, this isn't even an issues med should be AB, web, scrambler, 2x target disruptor, and maybe a jammer in which case with the AB running and him web too you will get out of range after a while

I had to get that close becuase I had 7.5km scramblers. Tired of having people with 2-3 wcs on and crap running away..
Anyway I had.. 3 med nos. a convert cloak II. 2 warp scramblers, web, and 2 tracking disruptors. 2 med reps, 2 40% hardners, and a eanmII or whatever.
At first he couldn't hit me at all.
but then he had a web on, it felt like TWO webs even.. but. I was stuck below 15ms. and he got closer and closer somehow, even though I had him webbed.
to where the transversal was zero, but at that point, I was tanking him wtih one rep going anyway.
He put nos on me so I couldn't rep at ful some of the time, he held back on the nos for a while though, I dont know why.
I was escaping at a few meters a second, when his firend warped in.. apoc with MWD.. nos.. ect.. I was really dead.
he actuilly bumped me almost out of range of the scrambler.. when he hit me, but by then I had 10 hull left.. so..
In short, It was a very close battle the whole way.
Ill be back though, and they wont be the ones living next time ^_^

if your using 7.5km scrams my suggestion is save your isk and wait for the stab nerf in kali then get a new pilgrim

Most pilgrims use 7.5km scrams. The pilgrim does not get a bonus to nos range so chances are it's going to be put into web range.
Next time m8 replace one of those nos with a medium nuet. They help with zapping that cap quicker.

Don't have the experience or the isk you ppl are showing - been playing for just 2 months and i am gallente speccing in amarr. I had one fight i remember, and probably always will. I had just decided to go for Amarr ships - noticed the arbitrator had 4 mids and then took a look at the amarr recons ... i was hooked. :) I used to switch the cans of miners to get they're corpies to come after me, and this is how it went that particular time. I switched the cans of a guy in 0.6, he warps in with an iteron 5 and he actually manages to take from one can, he calculated his move very well as he was warp aligned. 2 minutes later he warps in at 15km with a Prophecy with what appeared to be beams on. He MWD'd towards me and before i know i was bumped some 2-3 km away, had 1 small nos on me and was webbed. At this point i was in awe because by the time he was next to me he had killed my shields and was taking out my armor, not to mention the fact that he also used the drone bay on that BC, when many actually don't - 5x Hornets I. I had Hammerheads I, 2 dual light pulse lasers, med + small nos, AB, 2x scramblers, 1x tracking disruptor, MAR II, best named 800mm plate, thermic and kinetic active hardeners. I managed to win with 25% of my armor left and almost completely drained of cap. When i looked over the killmail he had a T2 passive tank with a T1 MAR, and beams + heavy missile launcher with thermal damage. His mistake was the fact that he orbitted me at 5km when i was webbed. Couple this with the fact that i had a tracking disruptor on him, and pretty soon he wasn't hitting me all that often - although when he did ... It was a great fight, I hope to get a similar one pretty soon. :) --------------------------------------------------

best fight without a shadow of a dought was.
me in a Sacrilidge, jumping into a low sec system where a megathron and a apoc are a camping.
the agro me I warp off. so I decide hmmm i am set up for tanking lets do it. warp back and they are gone.
so i decide to wait in the gate as they did. 20 mins later they warp back. they insta agro me. and both end up warping off after a couple on mins. woot i think. fought them off and alive.
they warp back in after 30mins... I warp off in high str. as the megathron really hurt with t2 425's
so i repair and warp back they are gone, I think to my self.. I can tank that apoc not a problem. that mega? nah it hurts way too much
So i sit 10km off the gate. in they warp flashing red . they agro me as I pick up spd 4km away from the mega.
2 points on the mega. 3 medium nossies and 3 heavies battering him away. he cant hit me at 1km orbit. so he webs me. I activate my afterburner, and once again doing 110ms. he constantly repairs. his mate remote armour reps him, this goes on for 15mins. then his mate in the apoc warps off, I want as his armour melts away, then his hull is vaporised by sentries. and one kill mail later...
Sacrilidge 1 megathron t2 fitted 0 Apoc lived to fight another day.
few days later when that same pilot saw me in low sec he would always take a pot shot at me. I took it as a sign of respect as I had the balls to take them on and win.
may not work that way next time tbh.
but best fighter i have had. -

my 'amazing fight story' goes like this:
battleships in system, npcing pretty much, and a maller. I'm in a rax and i WILL take on anything haha. so i track the maller on scanner, warp to belt and engage. Hes still pretty new no match for my rax but the fight took a while cuz he had a proper tank. In about the middle of the fight a raven warped to the belt... and he just sat there. It seemed he enjoyed watching us fight... only one thing was on my mind "have to get the raven, i have to get the raven!". so as my drones finish off the mallers structure i go for the raven. soo yea took a while nossing his cap with 1 med nos haha but i eventually gained the upper hand (plated rax ftw) and ransomed for 30 mill. About 10 mins later i found the apoc on scanner, but the guys been playing since 04... still ill go for anything. So i warped there and engaged, the guy launches x1 t2 wasp, x1 t1 ogre, x1 t2 vespa, x1 t1 hammer, and x1 t2 warrior. nice assortment of drones. i had a friend around in a ferox but they arent so good. so my shields and armor started dropping fast and only one thing was on my mind: gotta kill the drones... fast. bouncing around in low armor/structure i succeed in ridding him of his drones, while my mate in ferox also blasts at the drones. then i pop... dammit... my friend in ferox cant handle that apoc i knew. so what do i do? warp to station, dock, grab enyo, and undock, and pray the sentries dont pop it . so sentries managed to wipe through shield and 1/3rd armor entirely before i warped off. managed to break the apocs tank and ransomed for another 30 mill. that was intense.

I had a pilgrim attack me in my ferox once. Scaned me out at a SS. I came back from the store and sat down to see my shields going down. As soon as I started targeting and got him into armor he warped away. I didn't have any cap to scram him or I would =]

This is precisely why you use Med drones instead of small and orbit just outside of web range. He's in a belt, you don't need to web him.
Use your drones to kill his, then kill him and hey presto dead apoc.
Apocs are also cap batteries you can run dual rep setups from...
You just went wrong somewhere imo.

Pilgrim is an excellent ship for both solo and gang killing. It's one of the few, if not only one recon, that can take on almost anything and finish the kill by himself.
I had many solo fights in it, and killed Apocs, Ravens, Tempests, Throns, Domis, HACs, BCs ... you name it, it's probably on my kill-list. It usually all breaks down to your victim skills - if he's experienced enough, it would be hard to kill him in any ship and vice versa. I lost couple of these beasts too, usually to Gallente ships.
If it comes to most exciting moments - I had two memorable fights.
First one was against a Goon in a NOS Dominix. That battle took incredible seven minutes, where I was killing a wave after wave of drones that he sent on me before going for the final kill. Unfortunately for me - when he was nearly done, his backup arrived - a Falcon, and together they finished me before I managed to get away. Since then, I usually fit at least one ECCM on that ship ;).
The other funny fight was when I was actually in a Geddon, peacefully hunting NPCs in some remote 0.0. Two guys popped on local, one of them friendly (at least I considered him friendly at that time). After couple of minutes (took them way too long to find me, heh), both uncloaked near me in Pilgrims and engaged me. I would have been toast, wouldn't it be for the dual web I had fitted. The guns were of course missing completely, tracking disruptors are evil ... but then the webs kicked in, decreased speed of the first Pilgrim down to nothing, and he was gone in 3 salvos. By that moment, I was dry, but still had my drones out, and the other Pilgrim chickened out, leaving me to sift through a lot of nice loot and T2 drones .
I have frapsed some of the fights (including the Domi vs Pilgrim I lost), and you can find the footage here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=365886

The dps is rather low for the pilgrim, so taking on solo bs can take a while.
My fav fight with my pilgrim was when I caught some pirates with their pants down on a low sec gate. They had just finished off a cyclone and I target one of the pirates, who was in a prophecy. He was already half armor and I vaporized him quick. I went after his buddy in a raven who died suprisingly fast. Just as the raven died one of their buddies warped in to try to help, but ended up being a victim . 100m in loot, but sentries got 2 out of the 3 killmails . Jerks wouldn't send me their deathmails.
