Heh... I was playing with small ship setups to see what might be possible.
A Jaguar with:
2 x Medium Shield Extender II's, F-90 Positional Sensor Booster, and a 20km scram 2 x Signal Amplifiers
Fits with enough tank to tackle while other ships get a lock to do damage.
It'll lock even shuttles in 1.45 seconds (according to quick fit)
It will also have enough in shields to be close to what my solo gate tanking rupture had, so it should have no problem holding a target for 25-30 seconds.
I'm excited about the possibility of catching those insta warping shuttles/inty's/and T1 frigs..
Not to mention pods...

if your in a shuttle you deserve to be able to get away as shuttles is SHUTTLE, shuttles are not ment ot do anything except fly around. If your upset about not catching shuttles then go to 0.0 and put up a bubble. Sniping pirates are the lamest type of "pvpers" out there, getting thrills from popping frigates and shuttles must really make them feel overpowered. Intys is another thing however what will stop intys from just mwding away? I know i'd do that. and when you low on shields go back and hold you there so sentrys can finish you. Well well I guess we'll find out soon enough...
As long as it has a cargo hold, it doesn't deserve to get away. If you remove the cargo hold I'm fine with them making it harder to kill.
No one should be able to move BPOs / BPCs / Implants / high value small mods around without risk.
People always generalize. Explain to me how I'm sniping when I'm talking about tackling from within 20km?
And I don't have to stop them from MWD'ing away. All I'm doing is stopping them from warping long enough for the other folks that are sitting on top of the gate to also get them locked. They can be fitted with webs etc to make sure they don't go anywhere after that...
Someone is a bit tactically shortsighted...

I do miss PC... 0.0 is fun though.. mostly different.. and easier than low sec (given my outlaw status).
At least in 0.0 I have the same freedom to attack everyone else without the sentries joining in that they had to attack me in low sec. That keeps people from getting within their optimal/web range before they open up.
Lots more politics involved though. It seems that just about everyone is blue to everyone else. Makes for lots more blobs.
Still.. I haven't been out here too long yet, so I still have lotsa learning/exploring to do.
I do miss those great hauls with you guys in PC though... I'll definitely have to come back to that some day.
Stay safe!

Ok I didn't realize you where tackling for a group, thats fair. Shuttles have a little cargo yes and I agree with you that there should be somesort of way to stop this and there is. Smartbomb setup. Sit 5km from gate wait till they warp in POP goes little shuttle. You can't always have it your way, refit and adapt.
Given that there were no guns on the setup I posted I can see how you thought I was soloing..
I'm very familiar with the smartbomb setup option. Unfortunately it's not viable on the 'back side' of the gate without a ton of people. People appear in random locations.
I'll stick with the setup I listed thank you very much.

Originally by: ReaperOfSly Being able to tank sentries more easily can only be a good thing I think. Not only does it make things a little more "interesting" for travelers, it also makes it more viable for people to attack campers without waiting for them to fire the first shot.
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Almost all gate campers are already flashy red (if they aren't right away they will be within 2-3 days of performing their trade) so you were always able to attack them without sentry gun retaliation anyway.

I've only been in 0.0 for a couple weeks now.. but I've never seen the low sec side entrances camped.
The 0.0 side of the gate is almost always camped though.
I agree with you that those people aren't always flashy red, but the point is moot because they won't usually jump through after you anyway. They've already gotten you in their bubble(s) if they were going to get you at all.
That being said, I may just be underexperiened on the scenario you are describing
