Pretty new trader here (not just in EVE, but in general).
I've been stockpiling Antikythera Elements, but after discussing it a bit w/ someone in-game, I'm beginning to second guess my strategy. They would've been out for a while before the patch, and already a few hundred a day are being traded.
What do you guys think (not just about the elements, but the patch in general)? |

What effects do you think Fozziesov might have on consumption? What effects do you think Fozziesov might have on fleet doctrines? What effects do you think Fozziesov might have on production? What effects do you think Fozziesov might have on politics?
What effect will the above have on the supply and demand market levers?
Some transitional effects are already occurring. |

All my science lines are inventing Entosis Link II BPCs at present, using Process decryptors (which are the best by a mile).
I may also have bought about 5000 Process Decryptors in various hubs, including buying out 90% of the ones on Jita sell orders.
I've not been touching the Antik. elements. Don't understand where they come from, what the limiting factor is in producing them and how scalable producing them is, and not motivated enough to research that information.
Shoot everyone. Let the Saviour sort it out.

The Antik element is set to become more numerous in the future - https://i.imgur.com/a1MIQXh.jpg // http://imgur.com/a/0Cni6
Demand is pretty thin right now, so it has come down considerably since Earth April 28th - https://element-43.com/market/34575/
Stack them on, if you think 30 mil build costs for an item like the Entosis Link I is reasonable and sustainable.

Well, hell.
My answers to the above questions all point towards there being an increase in demand for the Element. The Entosis Links (and thus the Elements) would actually be exploding, so consumption would increase. Fleets could be smaller, but death-rates would remain the same, just spread out more. I have a difficult time considering why the Element would go down in price, barring some external influence. I imagine production going up, but in response to the increased demand; I was hoping to catch things before the manufacturers did. I don't know how it'd affect politics: I think alliances would be less stable. I suppose I only see demand going up, and supply going up in response to it.
Is this a huge display of ignorance in regards to the mechanics of the game? |

Soon, as seen on SiSi, we will be able to jump into WH space inhabited by drifters where you can loot much much more of the element. From previos experience Imho that will crash value of the element. |

Not been following SiSi closely at all last 2-3 weeks, hence happy with the decision I made to avoid the market.
I heard something about the elements also coming from using Entosis Links on some Drifter-themed LCOs, which made me think they'd basically be 'mined' if the rat issues were manageable.

Yes.

Supply is independence of demand when a bottleneck in its production like the Antik element exists.
The supply of Antikythera elements themselves will undoubtedly be raised by CCP - how big of a bottleneck in scope is going to remain, if at all, is a gamble that you must take right now.

Antikythera elements are also dropped by Circadian Seekers at approximately 25% frequency. There is no supply limitation. (Or at least no significant mechanistic limitation - just the people farming them.)

Not considered at this time.
Perhaps, Drifters are going to adapt to the POS shielding technology, and reinforce Small ones in two DDs. However, to achieve that, the blast would have to go up almost ten times in damage. Unlikely.

I don't see FozzieSov changing my manufacturing or marketing strategy about the only thing that would put a serious dent in my income nowadays is the complete cessation of all PvP across the whole of New Eden.
Diversification is the key.

The amount of PVP happening seems pretty low at the moment.

The explosion business the in area of LowSec I live in is still buzzing as seem to be the activity in the areas the trade hubs I operate out of service. True my sales volume is lower than I would expect to see if there was a good old fashioned full on Sov war in progress but all in all I'm pulling in a very satisfactory daily profit across my operations.

Personally I don't think prospecting on the basis of the incoming sov changes is a good plan. There are too many unknowns and outside of the magic fairy wands (Entosis Links) themselves there is little clue as to how market demand will change in the coming months and, indeed, whether this transition will significantly affect market prices.
Best to stick to safer investments, I reckon. |
