I am just curious as to why I would subscribe to EVE through CCP rather than somewhere like Steam or Amazon?
Currently considering a third account, the first one I got was through Steam, and I bought the premium bundle, but the main reason I bought it through Steam is because of just that... it's through Steam, that way EVE can sit right there on the shelf with my other 70+ games. The second account I got was mainly for industry to start out, and was simply upgraded with PLEX, it was easy and free.
Well this time around I don't have any PLEX or a ton of ISK... blew it all in a raffle :( , and I can't add a second EVE game to my Steam, so the third option seems to be through Amazon so I have access to this Premium edition again, did I mention the awesome perks that come with it? Including a free Prototype Cerebral Accelerator ( +9 all attributes along with a few other perks), several ships (all you can get in game) Several ship skins, a PLEX, tons of skill books and modules, as well as multiple blueprints, and clothing items for both male and female characters...
So the question.... Why should I upgrade through CCP instead of Amazon? Does CCP offer something as awesome for the same price that they fail to mention?
This is not a troll thread or a complain thread, I just simply would like to know why CCP doesn't offer any valuable bundle like the Premium pack aside from adding game time. Or do they have some hidden fine print that says this is the same as a premium bundle? |

Don't know if they're offering anything currently, but they have their own promotions every now and then, which you can check by either going to the main eve online page, or to the account management page at secure.eveonline.com (try the Buy Eve Online link too).
Since you already have accounts, you can take advantage of the buddy invite or (whenever they offer it, power of 2), for plex rewards or extra game time. |

As a general rule with purchasing technology, you should always try to minimize the amount of people that can point the finger at each other when issues arise.
That being said, I also took the same path you did with first one through Steam and then the second through CCP, there is no discernible difference, unless there is a good deal through a 3rd party (it's usually just mostly pointless fluff in the "deals")

the premium edition sounds pretty nice, although it is $50. If i waned a new account I would probably consider it.
Eve does power of two offers every so often where you get 6 months on a new account for a reduced price. Also if you do a buddy invite and activate a new account you can get an extra month of gametime (or a plex with some methods)
dunno what methods ccp has as I haven't tried in a while but the standard is usually ~$20.

The promotions are constantly changing with all parties so you almost need a spreadsheet before you even start playing Eve. Be sure to compare the plans to the advantages of sending a trial invite from one of your existing characters.
Also, if you get the accelerator note that the skill you have in queue will continue to train at the accelerated rate as long as you don't pause or change the queue.

To be honest,
Your still better off buddying yourself to get the plex which you can then just sell for roughly 800 mill more than enough to buy everything amazon gives to you in the packs and more...
Also there are offers for the implants and ships atm if your making an account from a buddy invite, or a plain one.
I have 3 accounts and buddy'd myself each time.
I think people are being mugged off by any other deals to be honest...

Yes the 1 Plex most likely far exceeds what you gain from the premium from amazon.. |

I had the same problems as well, got one on Steam and been sitting there for four years. So I cant get back in there unless I sub it and I didn't do much on that account lol.
So wanted to try something different by starting over on 30 days free trial and see if I can find a way to enjoy the game. I think my biggest issues is when I do tutorial quests or missions as well agent missions, after complete it and been giving too much goodies, free ships, etcs. So I wanted to earn it the hard ways. I will mine and work my way up without free stuffs, least giving me something to do by earning it and yes it would take along time.
I believe there are many players in this game that want to pvp, pve and roleplay. I know some are hardcore pvp and you have to put a lot efforts into this game and work in a team, but its a gamble situations.
Anyway I like to explore, but what bother me is that gankers camping outside of the gates and there no way I can get through without a navy backing me up to clear it. |

Real easy to get past all that and you don't need a navy to back you up.

To answer the original question more concisely than others have done: Because Eve runs like absolute crap under the Steam front-end. Like "half the FPS, somehow you have client lag" levels of bad, even on perfectly decent hardware.
I didn't even know that Amazon _had_ a shell/launcher for games, but honestly I wouldn't risk it, stick with the 'pure' version anyhow. Run it windowed and just have Steam running in the background or whatever and both programs work better. |

Unless your in null, those are pretty easy to run straight through. All you need is a ship that can use a covops cloak. astero is personal favorite for exploration. |
