If you are logging in from a new IP then you will be challenged for a character name on the account. After you enter the character name please use the mouse to click on the 'Continue' button. Using the keyboard to enter after you type in the character name will cancel the login process.
This a known issue and will hopefully be resolved in the coming days.

What if I get this message when I am using the same ISP & computer that I have been using for the last 18 months?
I can log in via the launcher without issue on my other PC - which shares the same ISP & is virtually identical to the PC that is having issues (save for the monitor & video cards).
Entering my character's name does not work - just takes me back to original log in screen.
Even worse I get the same run around when I try to log into the forums.
Thank God for the exefile as I'm still able to play at least.
Any suggestions? |

First extra-long checks and logins that take forever, now I also have to go through this just because my ISP changes my IP address every 24 hours...congrats CCP on making the launcher worse with every release. |

This means as an german customer (we get an new ip every day) i need to enter an character name everytime i log in to every account?

Having to enter the character name is extremely annoying, and utterly pointless.
You can just start the game client directly. It still only needs account name and password.
Please, please, please add an option to disable this check.

for the past month or so, I've been having immense issues with the launcher, besides the constant IP request and character name each time I login. I've followed workarounds but to no avail, deleted the launcher folder and ran repair tool, didn't fix it either. The main problem however i'm faced with how ever is how incredibly slow the launcher is. http://postimg.org/image/jif7pgmsb/ is what I get, the launcher just hangs forever before anything loads. I often have to restart it multiple times before all the buttons and interface loads. THEN once this 30 mins of struggling goes by, I can login, being asked username and password as per usual. Clicking the "Log in" button with the mouse. the IP changed, and needs a character name etc happens at this point, every time. Finally after logging in the update indicator line at the bottom just stays grey for about 5 minutes before it suddenly completes the check and I can finally load into the game (or if there is an update it only starts compiling the file after this period of "hanging" occurs)
Now before I continue, i have a fast internet connection (fast enough) to run the game smoothly without any issues. My computer may not be the best out there but it is definitely higher end than most. This is by no means a complaint, i'm just adding to the conversation here.
The best workaround, i just dont use the launcher, cause it annoys the living bjezuz out of me. Don't know what is causing it, and tbh I don't really care (except on update nights, oi ve!)
So far i have tried clearing the cache, ran repairs (which just crashed usually, until i updated the repair tool to latest version)
So, this game, I will play. I'm a huge fan boy admittedly, and this is the only reason why I put up with this but I hope that who ever works on the coding or optimization for the launcher finds a solution and not a workaround. |

dear ccp,
I cannot explain how that enrages me, you must balance such "security" features with the amount of bothering your paying customers
I get a new IP at least every day or more often when I'm forced to restart the router, just try that yourself logging in different characters a few times a day. |

Any more info or responses on that? This is also something that drives me nuts. Not only does the launcher check the cache integrity every time I start the launcher; it also directs me to the screen where I have to enter a name of one of the chars on the account every day as I have daily changing IP addresses. It is particularly nuts when I typed the password wrong and need to enter the Char name only to see that my password was wrong, and then the launcher re-selects the client user name of the last successful login and not the user name I actually want to log in. This is an unacceptable level of ridiculousness!
You call this crap a challenge, I call it running the gauntlet over hot ember and glas shards. Get rid of this garbage! Immediately!

Personally I have had the same IP for the last 6 years, I haven't had an issue with hitting enter, but I suppose that's going to come my way soon, knowing how CCP wants everyone to have the exact same experience. I am getting tired of CCP's "fixes" to non-existent problems. I am getting tired of having to add my toons name each time I start the game. With a paltry 7 accounts it gets to be a royal pain in the keester. I can only imagine what it must be like for people with 50 or more accounts. Get it right CCP quit touching things and "fixbreaking" things. You guys do a great job, but a lot of times you forget the KISS principle. For those of you who are younger and don't know what the KISS principle is, it means KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!!!!!. Nuff said, Im off to missions for some god awful LP that I will never get enough of to actually get a navy anything, other than by buying it in market.

- Enable two factor authentication in account management.
- Upon logging in with the launcher save your current PC.
After that you should no longer be prompted for any characters or verification codes. |

I have this exact same issue. Just checked, over 20 eve download things in downloads folder. I am a three week old player. That is ******* ridiculous. I am on the verge of quitting. There is just to much aggravation here. |

Would appreciate a little feedback from CCP on this topic: How is it supposed to work? And when are you going to fix it so it works as intended?
And since we're bitching about the launcher: Any chance you're going to fix the erratic saving of account names as well? |

The constant questioning for character names really pisses me off.
It asks for character names every time i enter my password incorrectly. The check box "not to ask this again" does nothing.
It is fine enough from my point of view that I have a ridiculously long password.
Please give us an option to switch off any kind of second factor authentication.
For users who feel more secure with those second line checks - they still might use it.
For me it is just a a thing that frustrates me every time it asks me irrelevant questions.
It is a frustration for me enough when I have to enter my password for the second time when launcher suddenly decides to update every other day and restart itself.

why is it still there? if i were to guess: player emergent gameplay......  also kind of frustrated with this as well as a whole host of issues that will never be sorted out only added to. doubt i'll be playing in the new year.

This method is a pile of arse in the launcher. Tranquility accepts the input name no problem. but Singularity? Hell no. Same can be said for Solace. Cant you guys entertain the idea of just using the IP verifier system that steam uses? |

Why can't you just save some info about computer like motherboard serial or something, instead of ip? I mean some peoples have ip changed every 24h, and others may share ip with others. So what's the point of saving ip if this same ip may be assigned to other computer later? |
