... t2 bpos available for public 6 months after the last one is seeded?
In rl a patent works for 30 years, not more, not less. In eve it seems to work for a lifetime. Life in eve goes fast and I personally think 6 months is more than enough time to earn a fortune for a t2 bpo owner anyway. These are my thoughts and donŠt reflect my corp but IŠd really like to see the communitys opinion about it.

T2 never been intended to be common. If you do it like this it would be.

T2 is commonly used. In 6 months you can earn a fortune out of every t2 bpo that is seeded, I think there is no doubt about that. All pos owners would get a slight boost, it would make production definately less attractive to all greedy people but I personally think it would be fair for all. It would make the lottery way less silly imo and the community would only benefit from it.

Edited by: Ben Derindar on 10/11/2006 00:52:32 Probably goes a bit too far.
I'd be happy enough with the number of BPOs seeded simply being proportional to current player numbers at any given time.
People talk about supply and demand, but there's two ways demand can increase: an existing population can decide they want more, or the total population can grow. Supply at least needs to match the second possibility.
Of course, invention may well render this whole discussion redundant, depending on just how costly the T2 BPCs will be to produce. Guess we'll just have to wait and see... *shrugs*
EDIT: and before anyone asks, no I don't have any T2 BPOs.

The problem is that there are supposed to be 30 BPOs out there However, this is often not the case. How many of these 30 are actually in production? 4-5 maybe? Or a large Corp just throws obscene abouts of isk at anyone with a BPO. If all 30 of these BPOs were actually being used the T2 issue, wouldn't be. Hell, if even 15-20 of them were being used it wouldn't be so bad.

Probably almost all--who would pass up a chance for the ISK? By the way, if a BPO is unused, CCP will reseed it.

It is quite easy to track how many people are actually using thier BPOs through the market. As for the reseeding, that is a non issue as CCP has stated on many of them that they will issue no more no matter what.
By the way, can I get a Tachikoma form you? or maby get you to make me a BPC?

Wrong.
If a BPO is unused or destroyed, CCP has said over and over they will reseed it.

I suppose you could be right. Do you have a link to any Dev saying this? I would be interested in reading it.

yeah seed them to the public after about 6months, something that i can randomly get for almost no effort that is worth 40bil isk just isnt right. They take longer to produce, reguire more skills and more building components then regular t1, that should be all that matters. The bpo's dont need to be rare, the ships just need to be harder/more expensive to produce. --------------- RIP - Smoske, My Friend

No it isnt. A lot of people use t2 bpos for internal use or sell on escrow (or even direct trade)

Might be hard, as most of the posts about this are relatively old. They repost it periodically when they're forum whoring and answer someone's question.

Was chatting to a guy who had his Occator BPO blown up a few days ago, and he confirmed that a dev told him the bpo would be reseeded.

Yes, I build mini ceptors, and it doesnt exactly make me super rich, building Capital ships and other business ventures bring in more isk.
And I know someone who got a micro smartbomb t2 print which certainly didnt make him rich at all. Not all t2 prints are high earners, or make someone instant billionares.
Most people who own a t2 bpo in EVE today didnt get it from r&d agent at all but bought it from someone who did, or someone else who bought it from someone who did. To much isk have changed hands and moved around to change things to radical with t2 prints. Just look at those hac bpo's that gone for 60+ bill on auction When they first became available they didnt go for that. Heck, someone in my Corp got a zealot print and sold it for chumpchange short after he got it. Remind him about it today and he goes all green.
CCP said t2 never was intended to be common as t1. You can't mess about with tech2 to much becuase it doesnt just affect the the t2 items itself, but a whole production chanin starting at ice mining and raw moon minerals.
Invention (deppending on how that pans out) might change the tech2 market, there must be billions of research points stockpiled that will be turned in for datacores.

As for buildcost; Yes, the buildcost of some of the prints like CPR2 and others that sell for tons but require very little to sell should been boosted. But all this up to almighty CCP to decide and figure out of.
Just because the bpos are more common wouldnt mean that they would then become as common as t1.
and you know when i think about it, they still are more common then t1, i mean i havent fit a t1 mod that had a t2 counter part on my ship in years --------------- RIP - Smoske, My Friend

With the actual playerbase growing and growing the demand for t2 items raises. From the first t2 bpo until now the playerbase raised by more than 20k ppl, the t2 bpo production didnŠt become faster, no additional t2 bpos were seeded but as stated above the demand raised significantly resulting in insane price growing on commonly used stuff. According to that on some dates there are speculations going on where people buy the markets empty to sell those items 2 months later with a decent profit.
As said before, a patent in rl ends one day too...
PS: A micro smartbomb t2 bpo is useless, I agree, same with 50-100mm reinforced steel plates2 but all the common used items are cash cows.

Actually, Oveur (or one of the devs) said that it's probably about time T2 become the norm, or less common, or something to that effect.
This argument is old and dated and no longer relevent. Its like saying 15 years after the TV was invented that it's not suppose to be common.
Nate.
