Being a Caldari character, I have flown nothing but missile ships for the better part of a year, so I recently bought and fitted out a Brutix to try something different. I have reasonable gunnery skills, and I've been using drones for a while, but I gotta say I was pleasantly suprised when I took my Brutix out on it's first lvl3 mission...it passed with flying colors, much to my joy. I know being a Gallente ship, shields aren't it's forte, but it did a good job of holding it's own while being aggro'ed by a sh*tload of cruisers and frigates. Between the 6 250mm proto/gauss guns and the drones, it took a bit longer, but I completed the mission well within the required time to get the bonus. So I must admit I'm sold on this Gallente ship...it's ugly as hell and I love it. Having said that, I would like some input into my setup, as I'm not sure it's the best for mission running:
6 x 250mm proto/gauss guns, with plutonium ammo 1 x tractor beam
1 x 10mn AB II 1 x medium shield booster II 1 x lge shield extender II 1 x boost amplifier
1 x azimuth descalloping tracking enhancer 3 x 'beta reactor' PDU's
With this setup, I can "float the load" on the cap while firing all 6 guns and running the AB. Remembering that I'm using the shield as my main tank (old Caldari habits die hard). Thanks for any/all replies.

UGLY AS HELL!!!!! WTF?? Brutix is one of the best looking ships ingame
As for your fitting, a brutix should be armor tanked cause you get a bonus for it. So get some cap rechargers in the midslots, maybe a tracking comp. And a dual rep armor tank in the lowslots, cause this is somewhat pg intens you might wanna downgrade to 200mm rails.

The best thing about shield tank - ability to put tons of damage mods, IMO.

Nope, its a Flying Chin.
As opposed to the Dominix, which is a flying Forehead.

I always thought that the Brutix came into existens by a thorax having an affair with a domi. 50% beauty 50% pure uglyness = 100% brutix

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 10/11/2006 22:52:22 Edited by: Ishina Fel on 10/11/2006 22:51:30 I'd say get rid of the large extender, and see if you can fit an invul field II in there.
I don't believe for a second you could tank all level 3's with that setup. I run a medium II booster + boost amp on a ferox with 2 rat specific hardeners (meaning really thick resists), and in some msisions my shields still go down faster than the booster can keep them up, even if it runs straight through (rogue slaver 2 comes to mind).
In fact, the moment you draw any mission vs. Blood Raiders, Rogue Drones, Sanshas or Mercenaries, your Brutix's shields with 0% EM / 20% Therm resist will fold so quickly you'll barely have time to go "ack".

You are absolutely correct, I actually have 4 pdu's in there (just upgraded to II's)
To Ishina Fel: So far the majority of the missions have been against the Guiristas, but I've done a couple of rogue drone, and no probs...honestly can't say/remember if I've done any Blood Raider/Sansha yet, but I will keep your comments in mind. Like I said though, with my current skills/implants, and those pdu's, floating the cap and keeping the shields up hasn't been a problem yet

Like a tumor the brutix grows on you :D
I would suggest taking of a PDU and putting in 2 mag stabs, or keep the tracking enhancer and put in a mag stab. But you really should armor tank it, don't just throw away a really good bonus ;_;
