After reading a lot of whine about how the Tech2 system is running, i came to wonder how i could be more fair. We got invention coming but i doubt that it will become more that a small profession. an i doubt that there will be a lot of money in it.
The Problems right now are:
1: Prices is out of control because demand is higher than Supply. (for some of the items at least).
2: CCP have to find a fine line for releasing more blueprints. To many and everyone will own Tech 2, to little and the problems we have right now is arising.
3: As a new comer to this game you will properly never get to own a tech 2 Blueprint. Oki you can be lucky but the chances is very low because of the big amount of RP in game an because, the older players have way more RP (not that i think it is wrong)
4: As we see a lot of the big alliances own most or all of the Tech 2 Blueprint, again undermining the empire based market.
So how do we change that.
It has properly been mention but it does hurt to give my view to how it could work.
Instead of making the BPO a unlimited runs make it run for a either a time or a number, meaning that either your BPO Works in 2 months or you can build lets say 500 hac's of it.
Now some will proberly say that it dosent comply to the real world. mayby but then change it. Lets say that the NPC companies what own the BPO's an then outsource the production to the players, An instead of using your RP to get the BPO you will be using them to research the BPC at the agent.
So you could choose to use all your RP to get a blueprint that is research to lets say ME 30 an PE 10 for lest say 20000 RP. Or make it % procent based of your total RP an then put a max to how much it can be researched. 100 % of your RP would give you a me 15 an PE 15 Blueprint. (has to be adjusted to each blueprint )
Now it would fix some of the problems.
1: it gives the New comers a Chance to get there fingers on to a Tech 2 Blueprint, An then ether sell it or produce an sell tech 2 items.
2: It would Allow CCP to adjust the market Whit out the risk of overseeding the BPO. Because if they get to many BPO out they can just take some out of the game. Oki you will see the prices drop sometimes but thats only until the BPO has been used up, an then CCP an adjust the seeding value again to fix it.
3: It will a more fluctuating market because of the changes that is happing en to the market.
4: it would be impossible to keep a monopoly over time.
5: Holding on to the BPO to make the prices go up will be hard as CCP can choose to seed more BPO'S an then the prices will drop.
6: it would not make TECH 2 a Money making machine for one person/CORP/ Alliance, but spread out the money income to a lot of players again making a more fluctuating market because more players will have the money at least for a time so they can take bigger risk whit out going bankrupt. There is properly some problems whit it, but most of them can be adjusted by changing the number of seeded BPO an there STATS.
Now Lets see some arguments why it should not work :) I have no doubt that is has been up, an i doubly think it will be implemented but i never hurts to try. An i hope that invention will do all this, but i fear it wont.
But lets see
Peace love an harmony. Now lets go shoot someone

so our t2 hac owner puts up 30 ships cheap at a station, 5 manage to get sold before a alliance guy buys them all and resell for 25000% markup(as is standard practice). this will be possible to use versus invention too, making it only good for sharing with friends. the t2 *****s will probably gobble up all T2 invention BPOs that pop up too.

Edited by: prathe on 13/11/2006 04:32:34 im very skeptical about the invention system being put into play
as i had stated b4 joining the corp im in now i thought it was a simplistic stop gap measure that would have little effect on prices and supply
having joined a corp that has many tech 2 bpo's all i can say is having seen the sheer magnitude of industrial foundation & infrastruture required to run one bpo into production . between components - minelrals - tech one bp - tech 2 bp - pos's - ice for pos's - supplying npc components for pos's - reactions - moon minning - finding the moons - combining all the data to select the most efficient moon combinations to ease logistics....... Thats for a bpo , A BPO . now of course there would be crossover applpications for others if you had more bpos' but different races different components......... so you have to ...... you get the idea
now is anybody going to to this for a 10run copy ?

The REAL issue was all the players that sold thier bpos and at billions they were getting, mostly large corps/alliance bought them.
I realy tire of the constant whine about t2 prices.
The ONLY way to solve it is to put the BPO's and all components on the npc market such as t1.
Resellers and traders will keep doing what they do now so you're resoultions fix nothing.
Letting new players win a bpo??? Umm what you think he's going to do? sell it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and who will buy it??? those with the isk = alliance and those with the isk that have them now.
