As we spend our time in Eve playing at being fighters, and with Armistice Day being tomorrow & Rememberance Sunday coming up in the UK, I thought it appropriate we remember those who have given their lives in real combat, no matter which side, or for which cause. These words always sum it up for me:
"They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

But, at the same time, memorials on any level are good. But, I do agree. Honor without politics.

Personally I try to remember the 30,000 civilians that the US slaughtered during the last Iraqi war.

IBTL.
One word. CONSCRIPTION.
Remembering those who died is all very well and good, looking at why the poor bastards died is more pertinent.

Lanfear's Bane.
My better judgement suggests that it isnt and certainly wasnt intended to be, but for some reason that sounds almost offensive in some way. Its probably just my mind set today tho, especially after reading the post some tard made about iraq.
Yes the reason all those people died is indeed important and ofcourse should not be forgotten, but perhaps it is better to merg the two? Remember the people who died for the cause.
If we will be remembered for doing great things, maybe it will inspire more people to do great things.
