Just gone past a billboard and on the bottom it says space for rent.
So my question is can you put adverts up on the billboards?
If so how / If not why?
If you cannot put adverts up why have space for rent on them and/or why have them at all.

For the same reason there are Quafe ads, Pleasure Hubs, all the "news" stories on the login screen, etc. Just to add some depth to the EVE universe.
 Do you want the pleasure hubs to work too?

I'd just love it if billboards had a lot more ads in rotation. For made up EVE universe stuff, of course. I just love fictional advertising in games. We're bombarded by so mcuh of it in real life that seeing fake ads in games just seems right to me.
Of course, real advertising can just screw itself.

I heard a story that the guy that coded the billboards left CCP, and the remaining employees havent figured out how to work it yet :)

Especailly if CCP but more Billboards around a gate and restricted any cans being anchored in the same grid as the gate.. You would still be able to drop one for use during a camp for ammo and charges but if you left it some enterprising pilot would eventually scoop it up..
