What did they mean by BS afk mining? How do you afk mine in one? The most I can get up to is around 1800 m3 in my apoc with local hull expanders. That shouldn't take too long to fill at all.
Did they mean to say macro mining?

i think BS afk mining should be allowed, because this game is supostabe reall, and in reall life on a BS ur not the only ******* guy, so i think that when u go to sleep u crew can handle mining and if not u should ******* fire them, but then maybe if thats so u should have to pay ur crew a slary ? I think the term 'afk bs mining' in fact describes several things:
1. People mining in bs while not really paying attention to the screen cause there¦s nothing that could threaten you in any way.
2. Afk miners in indies
3. Macro-users (damn cheaters...)

Edited by: Galk on 09/11/2003 18:12:33 Thats what my corp mate figured renault
Course ccp leave it entirely up for personal interpretation as per norm.
Flames and are resident community controlers put there spin on it, and whammm, more people get ****ed off.
I realy don't see why ccp do this sort of thing, it promotes an entirely negative image of this game. ------------------------

I agree, WTF is AFK BS mining, most ships can carry like 1800 cargo which is nothing, I say nerf haulers. remove that stupid turret slot.
If you nerf anyything, nerf macro users. Not "BS mining". Its just the WRONG problem. ---------------------------------------

Yup, removing the turret slot form hauler, or cretaing 'industrial' hardpoints for ship would shake thing up dramatically.
After all, unless roids start to 'eat' ships if the pilot is in BS, I don't see how they can keep empire space clean and clear, and useful to noob player.
Just add industrial hardpoints, and bring out specific mining frigates/cruisers. Afterall, anyone minign bistot without a reasonably shielded ship, is gonna get munkehed by the rats in deepspace, thats why people like to use battelships out there, in addition to the fact u can bolt on 7 or 8 miner2's

Edited by: Ska Kalazar on 10/11/2003 09:13:24 I killed a Colsup indy yesterday afk mining in a 0.9 system (we are at war with them). He was afk, which bugged the hell out of me. I don't normally pod people on purpose but this annoyed me to hell so I took out his pod aswell. So not only did he loose his ship and pod but I also blew up the can with over 40k of scordite in it and stole his cold gas afterburner and expanded cargo bay. Maybe that will teach him not to be afk while mining :)
I think I'll send the guy a bill for the missiles I "waisted" on him :)

To resolve empire space mining CCP could always initiate the infamous instant death exploding asteroid jack-in-a-box mob.
Infact why restrict it to empire space.

There is no such thing as AFK mining in Battleships. That is just another case of the Dev's not understanding the mechanics of the game.
As for AFK mining in an industrial in high sec space. Anyone that cares about that does not have a life. It makes very little ISK and is mostly used by noobies. Why not try worrying about something that matters in the game.

Using macro's is just lame. And afk mining in 0.0 space is very very hard so i dont think it happens much. __________ HC MasiEEE

I'm sure they are gearing this towards the Big Fleets of BS strip mining out resources fully aware most of the time, but yet doing this completely unprotected with no worries of really dying, geez even the ratz in 0.5 could sit and shoot a BS for about 30 minutes if the pilot was AFK for some odd reason.
Just make the npc pirate population flock towards mining operations according to # of ships, and types of ships. Maybe even the local empire cops too, if the system finds you hostile to its economical structure and resources.
More rats that are much more difficult will force ppl to pull a ship or two off the roid munching line and provide protection.
You all miners remember when we had to do that cause Nobody had BS, and it was just easier to hire a rat guard?
And Im not talking about little 1k and 2k rats, but like 5k-20k coming at you in swarms. Be nice to see some real opposition in some of the more secure areas.
And on top of that, have a bunch of police or maybe npc ships from the local corp stations come at you as well. Cause your ruining their systems natural resources for their corp profits.
How bout some npc AFK miners for noob pirates to practice shooting till they get better skills....

Sure, implement Rats in high sec Empire space!
Roxor idea!!!
Wouldn't it be easier just to make everywhere 0.0?
