I'm aware of the fact that you can only change portrait of your char with the same race and bloodline, but why can't you just change race of you character ? Leave all stats as they are, change race and starting corp, that would, wouldnt it ?

I'd like to do this. Why not? Doesn't affect anything in game, and you aren't tied to a character creation process from long ago when you knew nothing about the game.
In general, games should offer flexibility and fun. Change look, change race, whatever. I don't get the punitive 'can't do that because you couldn't irl' attitude.

I can never take Civere seriously. Maybe it has something to do with Daniel Jackson being the Civere poster boy. And then there's Daakkon of course..

it's not about my current character ... just think that minmatar race would suit me better, far better. exSlaves that are fighting for freedom

That was a fun war. Having fought in the Southern Coalition vs. RAGOON wars, I've grown to appreciate just how simple a time those days were

RHN vs ICA ... those old times. Remember that you all had so ****ty setups and low damage. It was fun killing your fleet in 2-3 sniper geddons

No, you're stuck with what you choose, why else wouldn't everyone go with optimal stats only to change faces later to suit whatever whim they have?
Though more alternatives for each race is due, hair, clothing, those cannot be forevermore locked in time, winter fashion now!

Don't forget about your starter corp. It would completely destroy your characters 'history'.
Unless you get a Tech II Flux Capacitor and feed it 1.21 gigawatt your not changing.

This was one of the things City of Heroes got right. They were very flexible in setting up a game design that really let people not only customize their character looks at creation, but continuing to do so. It sounds stupid, trivial and unrealistic or whatever -- but it's fun.
At the end of the day, this is a game. Things like that are fun. Fun is good. You shouldn't be locked into a character conception from 3 years ago or whatever. (And if you say, start a new character, then just go away and stfu please.)

I'd love to change race but there are some fish-hooks.
If you keep your current skills these would not necessarily be aligned with a character from your new race (especially the racial ship skills).
You couldn't let people choose their skills all over again because these characters would become too optimised.
You would have to reset standings to the starting position for your new race and it would therefore be a pain to get access to agents for your new race.
I think with a little thought it would be workable and would reinvigorate the game for some people - especially Caldari characters who seem to make up over 80% of the Eve population. |

I got the impression he wants to change race and was just pointing out that it wouldn't work properly if you just changed race and starting corp because of the race specific skills and standings.

I haven't planned this. Couldn't. Like i said before been playing for about 2 years now (without 1 month). I find now minmatar race more interesting. I don't find fighting for military might something worth dying for ... but minmatar race. They are different. Didin't even know about chronicles and couldn't choose my race with awareness. Just want to change my portraint to minmatar race and starting corporation. That's all. Leave the stats/standings. Heh, i have more skills that require mem/int (and those attributes are my lowest ones) so changing now to minmatar and increasing those stats wouldn't be logical cause i'd waste much time. That's why it's all about the portraint. Wrote petition in others category and haven't got any reply for 5 days now. That's why i started this topic.

Rce and stats are hardcoded with a heavy chain of links into them - according to some dev. There's officially no way to change it without a dev doing the change manually (and they killed off their Jove chars in the last change to the system iirc).

That's why it could be done just easily. Bypass all the standing/skills/attributes thing and change only portraint/starting corp
