Hiya,
OS: Windows 7 x64 Not really a issue or need of a workaround so posted it here, just curious if my install looks normal. During virus scans or backups it takes a *very* long time on the ccp directory presumably due to the number of files. (It has more files than the OS)
note: Wiped all Eve installs prior to new Download-on-Demand (DoD) client. Client is set to download all resource files and delete patches after use. (Don't really want to move it to a SSD)
c: ssd (OS/ user profiles) d: (traditional HDD , EVE install)
Directory of D:\Program Files (x86)\ccp
03/29/2015 10:46 PM DIR . 03/29/2015 10:46 PM DIR .. 05/12/2015 07:13 PM DIR EVE 05/16/2015 10:46 AM DIR EVE Test 05/16/2015 10:46 AM DIR SharedCache
Total Files Listed: 91697 File(s) 20,952,752,146 bytes 926 Dir(s) 143,182,958,592 bytes free
Thanks much - Brian |

Download on Demand means CCP has split up a lot of files that would normally have been packed together, into individual files that can be downloaded, or upgraded, as needed.. Hence a LOT more files than there were originally.
Scans are a downside, but it leads to better ingame performance, and less downloading of everything time and time again. |

Phenomenally when the Shared Cache is stored entirely in a ram disk. |

CCPs file management is completely nuts and nonsense. Yes, someone has to say it.
There is no reason why all these shitton of static files can not instead be moved into one, static, file and accessed that way.
