How much production do you need to be doing in order for the ME 8->10 or 9->10 to be worth the greatly increased research time? Do a lot of people stop their BPO research at ME 8 or TE 16? I would rather not lock down all my slots for two weeks when I can research quite a few more BPOs to ME 8 or TE 16. Is ME 10 and TE 20 really just a must if you plan on selling BPCs or the BPOs? Is TE even worth the research if you're not mass producing modules?

Depends on the product imho. For modules and small ships, ME 10 is probably worth it due to the already slim margins. For larger stuff like Battleships, Orcas or Freighters, I'd say ME 9 is enough, and I usually stick with TE 14 or 16. |

If you are using the prints for invention ME-TE of the original BPO doesn't matter. For T1 manufacturing, you will eventually want to get the print to ME10 - TE20. As already mentioned margins are thin. Research to 8 or 9, make a bunch of copies and work with the copies while researching the last bit. |

a lot of people sell max researched bpcs so anyone selling me9 bpcs would have to decrease the price a lot and sell very slow
if it would sell at all
example with approximated numbers
lets say you can buy from market a harbinger bpc, 10 runs, me10, 3 mil isk
me10 versus me9 production costs is around 400-500k per run
so using a me10 bpc instead of a me9 bpc would save you 4-5 mil (per 10 runs)
even if a me9, 10 run harbinger bpc would be available on the market for just 1 isk it would not be worth to buy it
