Thanks, I'll boost the normal cargo hold instead and train up the Gallente skill that increases its ore hold.
Which eventually gets it up to roughly 60k, but it would be nice to be up around 100k storage.

Gallente Industrial Bonuses (per level)
10% bonus to ship ore hold capacity

Don't. It's so small that cargo expanders will have minimal effect (they're % based). Rather use the slots to tank the ship or reduce alignment time or boost warp speed or something useful.
If you want 100k, look at the Deep Space Transports.

Which get 50k Fleet hangar (which cannot be expanded) and also get more from tanking those slots...
With 50k Ore Hold, 40k Cargo and 40k Fleet Hangar the 100k+ ore prize goes to the Orca. |

Pretty much this. The Orca is the step before using a freighter for transporting anything. With some voodoo fitting magic you can squeeze in a MWD so it takes 10 seconds to hit warp instead of the 20 some odd seconds. |

Actually the DSTs get a 5% per level increase to Fleet Hangar Capacity based on the Transport Ships skill, so it also increases. |

What can go in fleet hangars? Ships and their components? Ammo?
And what do you mean when you say "tanking those slots"?

There are no restriction for items in fleet hangesr. Ship maintenance arrays only accept assembled ships that carry ammo/crystals/drones and nothing else.
They mean adding in a damage control, reinforced bulk head, etc in your lows. The cargo is **** poor and you are severly compromising your ship's ehp by making them be worth a damn.
I imagine carrying 60k ish of ore to be already 3-4 times the worth it would be for a catalyst to pop you in high sec and remain profitable. ESPECIALLY if you carry compressed ore.
If your just running ore from a belt to station/pos just tank it up. If your transporting it to market, consider investing in an Orca and making multiple trips for now. |

I love my Orca, but if you really want to haul ore - eventually you're going to want to get a freighter.

The ship you use should depend on your risk level and your needs.
Miasmos would be okay for short trips with low value ores. Don't bother with cargo expanders, fit a decent tank instead.
Deep space transports are nice for riskier trips as you can easily tank 450dps without overheating (150k EHP or more). With lvl5 skill your hold is 65k m3 (plus 5k m3 for cargo hold). And the +2 warp core stab bonus is nice too
I transport alot and never considered the Orca as a transporter. I just trained up for freighters and t2 transports. Don't fly freighter much anymore, Red Frog is pretty cheap for moving large volumes.
