Sooo finaly im getting a new pc (in 4 weeks that is :P )
and i need some advice :)
So my main problem is deciding between and Intel dual core, or an AMD dual core. or no dual core at all but a much higher clock speed. From a previous thread i got that dual cores are the way to go anyways so ill list my 2 options (need to watch prizes)
AMD:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Dual Core) 3800+ processor
or
INTEL:
Intel Pentium 4 D 830 (2x 2,66 Ghz) processor (AMD cooling)
Other relevant stff:
Ati Radeon X1600 pro 512 MB videocard
2048 MB internal memory (RAM)
250 GB hardisk
If you can advice me something completly defferent for under 800 euros Im willing to listen :P Also, please link any cheap website that build pcs and deliver. I am dutch so dont start giving me links to the best japanese retailer Evar!!1 cause i dont need that :P
What do i want to do with the PC??? well surprise, I want to play EVE, prety sure it can handle EVE as my current pc is about 1/10th of whats listed above :) But Id also like to be able to play next gen games like Supreme Commander, X3 and Spore.
Any and all advice appreciated :)

ps. ofc i know i should get 4000 mb ram, 1 gig vid card and a quad 600ghz procesor... but i aint that rich :)

go for an intel but not a pentium d (its out of date already) go for a core 2 duo based rig if your on a budget get something based on a E6300 cpu with ddr2-800 ram

Wait for Direct X 10 graphics cards, they should be out soon. (That's what im waiting for)

they might be out soon, but theyll cost 800 euros by themself. And i need to buy a complete pc for that :)
Seriously im just looking for a decent pc to play EVE on and maybe Fraps and make some movies which should be np with any dual core.
Im just wondering if i can play the newer games on this (supreme command, spore) and if there are any alternatives for the same price that might suit my needs better :)

If you can find it in yourself to spend a little extra, go for the new GeForce 8 series 8800. Even the second-tier one destroys everything else currently on the market. I'll be building a new PC fairly shortly myself and I'll be going AMD with a GeForce 8 series.

Note the article is fairly old and the used top of the line products. I couldn't find a more recent one in the 3 minutes I searched, but it gets the general sense of AMD dual core vs. Intel dual core.

Ah thanks :) very helpfull AMD processor it is :P
I could go for a better videocard. But that would mean i need to drop RAM, which isnt really an option if i want to play the latest games. Or i need to drop to a smaller harddisk, But id like some room for frapsing on there. So a more expensive vid card isnt really an option.
Currently i got this for 175,- Ati Radeon X1600 pro 512 MB videocard
Dunno what the geforce 8800 would cost me.
