In beta I remeber I was one of the few who piped up and asked if it was going to be implimented into EVE. Why I asked is because I dislike PvP but I love being an instrument to PvP to help the side out. In this case, I asked if either Repair drones or Repair lasers/beams/tools were going to be implimented. The answer was a firm and strong yes.
So, what happened ?
Just wondering cause I would like to work in hostile areas repairing ships all day..... for a fee of course

If you have interest in support ships like i do, consider using the 'shield transporter' devices. Yes that's not repairing, but a ship with a full shield usually needs less repairs, so it's still interesting, isn't it ?
I admit nonetheless, the repair drones would be a nice addition to such a ship design.

even though i ve got to do it a lot, i still believe that repair should come with a cost...

Well, as the drones (or whatever they choose) will obviously cost in some form (either as risk in trying to obtain as loot, or ISK on the market) and certain repair modules are already available (hull & armour repairers) I don't see the problem about cost....

Considering repair drones is one of the things you can tell your autoscanner to keep an eye out for I would guess they are already "in the game" but noone has the BP or are planed to enter the game at a later time (like titans and mobile refineries).
In short, they are comming :)

The Vexor will make the best ship tender. It has good cargo space to hold ammo stores to replenish other ships. It has a good amount of drone space to hold many repair drones (asuing they are the size of a combat drone). The Vexor has a good number of Hi, low, and medium slots, for energy, and shield tranfers. Finally it has a good amount of cap.
Have the ship tender in a remote spot that is bookmarked and a fleet can warp in for repairs, and restoking of ammo.

TomB or Hellmar mentioned that additional Drones will be implemented after Castor but before Shiva(Tech3) in one of the last dev chats.
in the settings for the Auto-Scanner you already see the new drone-categories (rogue & repair drones)

Ariell, you seem like a sweet girl and since you're a relative new comer to the retail version of EVE, lemme just tell you a few things that will, hmmmm, how shall I say, deter you from expecting satisfying results
1) Don't bother filing petition. Whatever bug caused your ship to blow up, doesn't matter. Your ship will not be replaced unless you have a significant contribution to the EVE community that you can threaten to remove if you're not satisfied as a paying customer.
2) Whatever you read in chatlogs and interviews and posts in beta or shortly after release is invalid. Remember when they said hacking wasn't gonna make release of EVE but will be implemented shortly thereafter?? Do you even remember hearing anything REMOTELY suggesting a possibility of this being implemented soon? Didn't think so.
3) There are features which are badly lacking in this game (bounty hunter licenses and tools, actually usable KEEP AT RANGE distances, gangs working properly [or at all], repair drones as you said, clone construction) BUT, other very IMPORTANT *cough* things like billboards and more courier agent missions have taken precedent. Of course  
4) Devs don't post here
5) Ignoreance is bliss. The less you know and expect, the more you'll get when it actually comes.

She's been in beta yes, but it was my understanding she only joined EVE retail about 1-2 months ago and not from start.
