Edited by: Fury Overdose on 13/11/2006 09:50:22 I felt like i wanted to contribute to this thread after reading everyones posts, I have played many MMO's over the past 10 years and a quick run down is simple.
Kal-Online: the ULTIMATE grinder, a korean developed game that would start you off quick then progressivly make it more and more difficult to progress, to the point that it would take literally 3-4 months to level, the worst part of this particular game was the drop rate from monsters, a person could invest weeks and get no drops what-so-ever in the later game. Eve>Kalonline
Silkroad Online: another *** Korean developed game, same as Kal, but better graphics and a bit more depth and less grind as simply nothing beats Kal for grind. Eve>Silkroad Online
Guild Wars: Prophecies had a great story, albiet with alot of holes, it did make you feel like you were the main character in a book, but once you finished that story END GAME! well the PvE side anyways, the PvP side of Guild Wars is the side the developers have focused on and this game does shine in that respect but it's gameplay is no more meaningful then running a map in Counterstrike or Quake with a friend EvE>GW in Player Reward but thats not to say EvE fully pwns GW :P
Star Wars Galaxies: a game that had similar potential to what EvE has, but it unfortunatly had horrible development, the game was coded very poorly, and in the end vast changes to game mechanics lead to a vast downfall of subscribers. Eve>SWG
Flyff: a game which i think killed some brain cells, korean developed, need i say more? Eve>Rappelz
Rappelz: published by the same guys who did Flyff, why i was talked into trying this peice of crap i'll never know :( Eve>Rappelz
World of Warcraft: WoW has already been thoughly discribed in this thread, but a quick recap, excellent PvE, and interesting PvP, WoW is very well coded and has a plethora of features, but in my opinion EvE Online>WoW but that opinion comes from a big science fiction fan. and like GW Eve doesnt win in everything in this comparison.
Well, although that wasnt all the MMORPG's it's enough to make this thread longer ^^
NOTE: I play EvE online because as a kid i always dreamed of space and loved movies and TV shows with space themes, Nerd? not quit, i never learned Klingon but i did watch the entire Star Trek: TNG series, if a product suddenly came out that did everything EvE-Online does for me, but offered it in a more complete fashion, i would change to said game in a heartbeat, but with EvE really having ZERO competition for this Genre there really is nothing better then Eve-Online when it comes to Space MMORPG's.
