Okay, it isn't that I'm new to EVE just that I am new to ratting. I've been doing it a while and have heard that you can chain the rat spawns, so that you get the same rat at the same belt consectively ( I apolgize for mispelling and bad grammar). I was wondering if someone could tell me how to chain, or at least point me to a chaining guide.

1. Find spawn
2. Kill everything but weakest ship in spawn
3. Move along and wait a few minutes for it to respawn (do this to multiple belts if you want)
Enjoy

Am I wrong or does this seriously nerf your chance of a faction spawn?

It depends on what you prefer, consistent high bounty BSs or the small chance of a faction spawn. Personally I take the consistent income of chaining over hoping for a faction spawn that will likely drop a tag and ammo. |

The damsel moved in with me, we're having a great time. - Wrangler The damsel may not be distressed any more, but how many times does the informant have to be silenced before he gets the message? - Cortes

As an addition to #3, you can always warp jam the weakest NPC rat and just wait in the same belt till his friends respawn around him. _________________________________________________

Often times if it is just a frig, it's easy enough to just tank it till the bships respawn only using a repper/booster every couple of min (unless you're not in a bs or something)

Thanks to the randomness involved you still may get surprisingly many faction spawns though...like I did last saturday

Yes, I usually chain a few good spawns and kill the crap in the other belts, while I wait for respawn. Remember once having 4 faction spawns in one session. Was quite nice.

It nerfs it.. but its not impossible.
If the (true) sec status is low enough, I can usually leave a couple triple BS spawns to chain while I am clearing the system for a faction spawn.
Got 2 hauler spawns and a domination BS over the weekend doing this :D

best ways to get faction loot/faction spawns are:
- running into the enemy home system with a ganksquad and trying to kill their npcers, while you're camping the station you'll likely find a faction spawn in the belts. ... happened so far 3 or 4 times
- killing a npcer in the belt, sometimes they drop faction/officer loot ... happened numerous times so far
- killing the hauling alt of a npcer who's flying in a t1 frig to empire - it dropped a DG invul field ... happened only once so far
i think i found more faction spawns while PvPing than NPCing (the lack of invested time into npcing might be a reason for this though ) ___________________

without considering PVP at all - the tradeoff is the lack of faction versus the regular income of BS resapwning
That said .... if u pick 3-4 quite systems and simply warp around kill all the good normal BS do this for a few hours 1-2 factional ships will show up.
If within one system simply chain whatst here and get the loot its about same value over time esp when most factional shipsn ow drop ammo and a tag anyway not really worth it
