Right now i have a thorax and i like to have 5 laser points, but i miss missels! So i was wondering if you guys think its worth buying a celestis and raging around the galaxies with 2 rockets and 3 laser hard points or 5 laser points and alot of drones?? ----------------------------------------------- Im bored |

Yes. I ditched my thorax for a Celestis and haven't looked back. If you could get 5 250's on a Thorax, it might be a different story.

Edited by: Spyder Murphy on 10/11/2003 16:38:48 Edited by: Spyder Murphy on 10/11/2003 for bad spelling I use my (4th) Celestis for NPC hunting, since I can't afford to lose a cruiser killing pirates
set up as follows -Hi 2x250mm 1x150mm proto 2xX-3200 Launchers -Mid 1xAB 1xSensor Booster 1xMed Shield Booster -Lo 1xDamage Mod (Basic Magnetic +) 1xRange Mod (Basic Targetter i think its called) 1xOverdrive (Type E marke Modified :D ) 1xInertial Stabilisers (Partial Hull conv, although I think the agility part is broke I still use them :D ) -Drone bay 8xHammerheads (Can't use heavys yet )
I find it a worthy ship, but trying to farm in areas where there are alot of players you lose the use of your two launchers (Unless you WANT to splash damage some one and lose a ship... )
Its not a standalone PvP Ship, but as part of a fleet It should have its place. Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 218.0 damage.

You wouldn't want to use heavy's in Celt anyway, Spyder. 8 Hammerheads is better than 3 heavy's of your choice.
As posted in another thread, my npc setup is
2 x 250 Compressed Coils 1 x 150 Compress Coil 2 x Malkuth Incursions
C5-L LiF AB Anointed EM Ward
2 x Named Cap Power Relays (can't remember name, only used name for lower fitting reqs) 2 x Magnetic Stabilizer 1's
8 Hammerheads in the bay
I have the EM Ward because I fight Sansha's. Anything else, I replace with a targetting computer, either an Optial or a F12 nonlinear.

The Celestis is a good fighter. I prefer my Thorax with 3 x 250mm Compressed, 2x 150mm Dual and 8 Wasps tough.
When I flew a Celestis, just to be different, I used 3x 250mm Compressed, 2x H-50 with Widowmakers and 8x Hammerhead.
I had no problems killing large frigate/cruiser spawns. 4-5 frigates and 1 cruiser. From time to time I went a little bigger and did pretty well.
I would not advice the use of missiles most of the time since it's just not feasible ISK wise. Use them when you find youself in a tight spot.
You will not regret flying a Celestis even if most other scoff at it. á

Celestis is great fighter. Though I have NPC hunted in one... I don't know if I would prefer over a Thorax for that task.
PvP i would chalk a Celestis up anytime... for deeps space mining... I would use one as well. To me Missile points are neccessary in 0.0 in case someone comes knocking at your door. as for the 8 hammerheads... Im not so sure i would use those over 3 wasps. HH don't take a licking like the wasps do.
Perfect Scenario :
Go to 0.0 with a Thorax rigged for NPC hunting, try to find a hidden bistot belt. When you find one... take the celestis with 2 Malkuth Incursions and 3 Miner2s and 3 wasps. 1 launcher for FoF heavy or Cruise Missiles and the others for Widowmakers or thier Cruise counterpart. Can't really give you a better routing than that... cept maybe substitute the Thorax for a Maller... but then you didn't want to hear that did you ?

Got a Celestis with 3 250mm railguns and 2 H-50s. Against large cruiser spawns, the missiles do a great job of reducing numbers, then use drones and guns only to pick off the survivors, then just using guns to farm off single respawns. Since the patch got no problem with the cost of missiles, where you get any heavy missile for what standard light missles used to cost.
Missiles are very good in getting you out of tight situations.

well i used my first celestis i got for 5 months to kill off npc and players who got in my way, its a great ship as it is very underated, another idea for its set up is the face hugger route for small pvp occassions -
hi - 3 x anode ions 2 x h-50 launchers with thermal torps
med -after burners and webbers - possibly a mwd
low -dmg mods, tracking mods or speed.
with this set up you may takea beating on the approach but you will deal out some serious pain once your up close, just fire your torps on the approach and swap to your guns up close with 3 heavy drones (the anode ions will do 150 - 200 easily and my records 461.4)
Reaper Grim
got a loverly looking sig - just cant seem to get it hosted :(
