When you create a corp does it have the same standings with the nation as the creating char does? or does it start as 00?

It starts at 0.0 and gradually increases to the average of all corp members every downtime.

True, but with a small proviso: you must do something to change (hopefully raise, by doing a storyline mission or something) your FACTION standing while in the new corp, before your faction standing starts counting in the average.
If you create the corp and do nothing, the corp will not gain faction standing. If members join, their standing will not be counted for the average until they do a storyline mission while in the new corp.
One more thing: If you create alts and have them join the corp, NEVER EVER do storylines with them, as they will get a faction standing slightly above 0 and will drag down your average!

Great, I thank you for the info, It was one of those small things that I hadn't seen anywhere. But standings is the only thing stopping me from setting up a small lab pos in empire.
Again, thanks for the info.

Everyone I talked to so far has told me that each character counts towards the corp standings, but you're the first one to really explain it and also confirm what I've been seeing in my own corp
Thank you for a most excellent and helpful explanation =)

I don't have an exact idea, I do know it has diminishing returns. Took my corp 3 downtimes to go from 0.0 to 4.0 then another 7 days to get to 6.0
I think I worked it out at about 30% or 40% of the difference per downtime ... but I could be wrong (was several months ago).

well if the corpstanding is so slow, is it possible to launch a pos for "self" if you got the propper standings and all? Or is it a must to launch for a corp?

I believe it goes something like this: Every downtime The average standing of members is calculated, and compared to the current corps standing. The difference is then halved by changing the corps standing. (Im not sure if its exactly 50%, it could be 70% or 30%, but this is the way I think it goes)
So if your members have an average standing of 8 and you corp has a standing of 6, then the difference is 2, so you'll gain 1 point in standing during DT, bringing you to 7. Next day you'll go to 7.5, then 7.75 etc.
One more ting to note: only UNmodified standing counts (skills of individual players have no effect for your corps standings)
This thing works the same for corp to corp standing, but again, before anyones standing counts, they have to da a mission for the corp that you want your corp to get standing for.

according to this with a personal standingof 5.1 and creating a new corp i would get to corp standing 5.1 (rounded) in 7days.
Now my problem is im on day 9 and the standing is still below 5... does this has to do with the fact i didnt get a storyline every day? if yes it sucks..

Edited by: Contralto on 17/11/2006 10:05:18 Basically yes you must do the Storylines to accelerate the transfer.
just a note though, last DT the standings were not reset for some reason, I run a business transfering my Gallente standings to new research Corps. My customers corp stayed at 5.3 despite the Storyline I did. From experience the standing should have risen to at least 6.2.
I saw another post saying that Plexes and ore belts also failed to respawn.
Mail me ingame as its only a small rise you require I will do you a "freebie". just need to join for one day. I will be finished with my current customer after DT today. (If no repeat of yesterdays bug)

Ah! Its you UNMODIFIED standing that goes to corp. Your corp does not get the benifit of your skill bonuses.

Think it's 25% of the difference not half - at least when it moves upwards.
