hey
i would like to get some tips on what BS i should use to rat in 0.0 with. I am flying amarr BS so the options are Apoc or Geddon. What do you think would suit me best?
I am a low SP player and this is my first time trying this out. I know it will be hard and take some time to get them down. Reason i am asking basicly to learn the diffrence between the ships and what the best option would be.
Pls dont tip me on other races (as caldari and raven and stuff like that).
I know this atleast Apoc good tanker Geddon good dps but if i am a low SP player still, what would be best? Go fore tank o go fore damage. Will i be able to kill them fast enough in a Gedon with a T1 fitting. Or will i be able to tank them way better with a Apoc and still be able to kill them fast with a T1 fitting?
Pls notice that i dont have isk or mutch skills to fit T2 stuff so T1 (named) will be my option. And again no other races than amarr pls
Hmm... why dont i tell you how mutch SP i have lol Maybe this is not low SP but i think so atleast. I have 6mil SP and have good mechanic skills and heavy laser turret at lvl 4 and BS ship skill at lvl 4.

Define "them".
Versus Angels, you will struggle, as they have good resists against your race's damage types. If you are going after Sansha or Blood Raiders, you should be fine with decent T1 gear (I.E., no mods with "Basic" in it)
You described the differences between the 2 ships well BTW. IMHO, they are just the same, with the Apoc having more cap to sustain its tank. It also has more HP and a bigger cargohold (Not sure on that last one, come to think of it...) which would help when collecting the mad hawt lewt. ------- New to the game? Check www.eveinfo.com |

by them i mean the NPC that i am going to hunt with the ship.
if you think a geddon will make it against 0.0 rats with a T1 fitting flyed by a me i will go fore it:) any suggestions on a fitting. my main question is the high slots. what guns are good to go fore. i have notice that the really big one can have problems to hit if the target get to close but still outside web range. i will have 5 medium drones but that will just be for frigs and maybe some cruisers. if the NPC bc and bs come close i want to be able to hit them hard direct so i dont need to sit there and tank forever while my drones do the work.
pls help

we need to know what npc you are planning to shoot.
i believe that amarr ships are pretty rubbish to use against npc (except maybe sanshas or similar) due to fixed damage type, problems with tracking etc.

My geddon does WAY more DPS than my apoc (obviously). While its tank cannot sustain a 3x upper level BS spawn forever I can kill the rats (bloods) so quickly with dual heavy pulse that it really doesn't matter. ----------------------

i am going for sansha and as fare as i know lasers is good against them (em/therm)
will a good geddon fitting be to use dual mega beams to be able to kill them on medium range (15-40km) and close range (0-15km)?

Noob = Apoc
BS lvl4, cap skills up to 4/5, and large turret 4/5 = Geddon.
Use a Mega Pulse setup with an AB to get in range on the Apoc
Not as important on the Geddon cause it does so much more damage, switching to long range lenses doesn't cause as many problems.
Nice thing is you'll soon rat up named guns with sanshas.

for sanshas/blood raiders you'd fine in ether.
I'd always advise training tank before gank.
No offensive but at 6mill i don't think you should be in a battleship. At this level i would recommend getting an assault frigate. Prop the Retribution for ratting. It can kill all the Sansha's/blood raiders BS tho will take some time doing it. If you specailise into the Assault frigat for a while your'll be very effective in it. It requires less training to be good than a BS and costs a **** sight less.
However if you really want that BS then a geddon with mega pulse, large rep and a couple of apprioate hardeners and maybe a heatsink or 2 and you should do fine. However tho this will work well against rats, should you run into other players it is unlikely that you will be able to pervail against someone who is specialised i'm afraid.

I hunted Sansha's successfully with a Geddon for a long time before making the switch to the Apoc. The Geddon is a rush, you have to really pay attention, but it killed stuff fast. The Apoc was different. You left your hardeners and medium T2 rep going constantly and when a BS spawned you'd turn the large rep on, all the guns, and then go make coffee. My experience isn't 100% practical as this was pre-Exodus for the Arma but I'd imagine the difference between the two ships is still largely the same despite NPC changes.
If you're hunting Angels, don't bother with either. The moderators here are excellent at policing signatures. |
