Make everyone join a corp that can be war dec'd...then we can pop them whenever we find them. |

Sure. How do you propose we make them. If the devs can prove they're macro miners, they just ban them. If they can't prove that they're macro miners, they're not going to make them leave the NPC corp.
Use a little logic.

Here's a 'little' logic...maybe we could use tractor beams to drag suspected macro-miners into low sec space and then blow them up there. There's no reason why a jump gate should shut down your tractor beam is there?

Again, your logic fails. CCP can't make a tractor beam that only works against macro miners. (Duh.) So whats to prevent people dragging legitimate miners off to low sec?
Seriously, just drop it. This "idea" can't work, because there is no way to distinguish macro miners from regular miners easily. Sure, it's easy to tell that someone is LIKELY a macro miner, but in order to get them banned, CCP needs to PROVE it. They're not going to just start sacking subscribers because people think that they MIGHT be macro miners. That's a good way to lose money.
Until CCP can develop a system that better detects use of macros, it ain't happening. Even then, they won't put any feature in game to allow players to retaliate against them, they'll just suspend the macro miner's accounts. It would be a complete waste of the development staff to put something like that in-game. It would be too much of a hassle keeping anything like that from being abused.
Give me a tractor beam that can drag people around and I'll be the first one to drag you out to low sec for coming up with such a bad idea.

The way I see it is that electro-FREAK has way too much time on his/her hands. Someone that defends the existence of macro-miners must be one themselves. Or maybe she doesn't want her auction house isk supplier to run out of resources. Either way, since FREAK offers no solution, she must be part of the problem.

HAve some fun set up a cruiser with all nanos low and a MWD and cap recharger and play some bumper-ship, if they don't say anything then they must not mind. You can't bump them through a gate but I bet we could compete for the best bumps and award a prize for the best distance, ricochett, etc...

The idea isn't bad (I thought about it too). And there's no need to tell macrominers from just miners - just either make it impossible to mine while in NPC corp at all or make it possible to only mine with a single basic mining laser if you're in NPC corp. |

afaik the only real solution is to ban a range of ip subnets that stem from asia.
as i have said in macro intel channel the macro invasion into mmorpg's is quite similar to mexico's migration patterns into the USA. its people who need the money for one reason or another, and the currency exchange makes it worth it. Problem said in this post, Check..Flaming, Check..Solution? THATS A BIG N-O CAPTAIN.
So you must be a part of the problem as well, since..By your logic..You provide no solution.
Troll better next time.

Are you f'ing kidding me or just dumb?! I'm not any macro mining scum. Nor ANYWHERE in my post did I defend them. I simply made it clear that there is no possible way to implement the original poster's idea, and that the idea itself is ridiculous. But if it's not obvious that if you just let everyone war-dec anyone who mines in a barge that theres going to be problems, then you're just plain ignorant.
If you see a macro miner, you report him, and if CCP can determine that he is indeed a macro miner, CCP bans him. CCP outlaws macro mining, rightly so. But if they had the ability to detect macro miners themselves, why in heck would they go to the trouble of introducing a system that lets you wardec them when they can just suspend their accounts?!
God I wish people would just use their heads. I've got a guy from "Starcore MIning" accusing me of being a macro miner and smack talking with me, while I pilot 2 capital ships as the commander of a Navy Division in a PVP corp and alliance. Every penny of my assets has been earned through my own hard work. To mock me like you do is pure hypocrisy.
Maybe you're a macro miner trying to discredit someone who is bringing some rationality to this arguement perhaps? Or more likely you're just an alt of the original poster.

why not look at it from another point, simple log of how long accounts are online, any account over say 16 hours with no more then say a 5 min break between crashes get flagged, CCP can review the log and see if modules were active and can then keep tabs on those accounts if ya cant ban them for macro'ing ban them for account shareing, I have seen some Non macro's but obvious farmers online DT to DT daily, there is no way 1 person can play 23 hours a day every day.

Best solution is for CCP to allow macro-mining, perhaps even integrate a tool for it in game. Honestly, what's the difference between manually retargetting your laser / emptying your hold and having it done automatically? Only difference I can see is that the latter allows you to do something less boring while mining.
From what I see flying around, CCP isnt able to keep macro / farmers away from Empire, so why not give all of us the opportunity?

and how do you know someone's online 23 hours a day without being online 23 hours yourself ?

The ways of getting the community to deal with it are numerous and obvious. The ways of CCP dealing with it are numerous and obvious.
The amount of dollars CCP get from the 4 to 6 thousand macro account is er... numerous and obvious. (Not to mention the complementary accounts who are buying the isk and "pwning" people up)
The reason they are allowed to continue....?
Usually the reason something happened is the most obvious reason.
If it begins to look like anybody is about to make a dent in the isk market, or force them out to farm WoW instead, you can't bet your underpants that CCP suddenly find a way to ban your account.
That is, if the farmers don't simply dump 500 million isk into your character and petition you for isk buying first.

You know, it would make sense, for 20,000 years into the future that people would be able to mine without paying too much attention...I mean, it would basically be an autopilot that also fires a laser..
As horrible as it would be for game balance, and even though I can't beleive it, I kinda agree with you.

I seriousl dubt that there are 4-6.000 macrominers in EVE, at least macrominers selling isk for cash. The players pool is less than 300.000 accounts. A miner with a barge can mine about 2-3 millions in veldspater every hour mixing minerals he can go to 5-6 millions at most in high sec. 23 hours (even supposing the belts don't disappear before, and no travel time) = 60-70 million in veldspater, say 100 million if mixing minerals. 1 day work = 1 GTC (unless prices are changed, I don't buy them). So to sell enough GTC to sustain the activity of 4000 macrominers in high security sistems you need 120.000 accounts buing GTC. Possible. But if that is the thrut the problem aren't the macrominers but the players buyng the GTC knowing they are supporting isk farmers.
If you include the players using macro to mine for personal/corporation use of the minerals, then it is possible. I must admit that it can be a temptation, as it will reduce muscle pain and problems for the eccessive use of the mouse.

The only solution players have:
1: Report them and steal their ore. 2: Suicide them. 3: Stop buying low end minerals off of the market and mine your own.

You are, of course, free and right to doubt it.
I recommend getting involved with the MacroIntel channel for a few nights and record each time how much doubt you lose.
By extension you start to lose respect for anybody who says things like "I die like a man instead of warping away". Yeah, 10 minutes on ebay will sort you out, try earning that isk and see how much you want to die.
This is the main downside of getting involved: finding out that way too many of your opponents are cheating. If you -love- Eve, stay out of the macro arguement. Place head in sand, press F1 to F8 and die like a man.
If you -love- pointlessly fighting for an at best dubious cause for which you'll receive no external thanks (then join BoB or ASCN lol - I'm kidding. probably. ) then join the channel and see how it works out for you.

I don't know how the macro program works, but if it has something to do with the eve patch itself couldn't ccp do something like planet side and scan your patch every time you log in for macro programs?
