I've just fitted up a DuraMaller and I'm thinking of having a go at some ratting in 0.0. Is the Duramaller up to the job or are there any tips you can give me?

Sorry to tell you this but a dura maller wont have the firepower to kill 0.0 bs rats. If you want to rat, go in, tank the dmg and get a friend in a caracal with dmg mods or a thorax with blasters.

If so you're screwed for Solo in a Maller. Tank it to hell and get a friend to do the killing.
Proph just about does the solo job at a push, if you're only getting isk to replace Cruisers/BCs/T2 frigs. Really though if you want to earn properly, solo and in an Amarr ship Vs Angels you need a BS. btw, if you want to stick to Amarr, a 'geddon will do the job perfectly ok despite what fools will tell you (not as good as a Raven, but what is :p)

Eh, i have a duramaller, and it just can't break the machariel (BS) rat tanks, not even the 500k ones. It can permatank 3 Angel Thrones though :).

Tanking isnt the issue though, you could get it to tank some crazy DPS if you used faction mods. But all the faction mods in the world wont give you enough damage to kill a BS solo.

Well thats a bit of a bummer! Am I right in thinking that no Amarr ships cannot tackle 0.0 rats unless BS? What about AF's?

Not true, just depends on the rat types. Amarr suck horribly against Angel rats, and Guristas too I guess.

My Retribution does just fine against Sanshas, up to about 900k battleships - The duramaller does comparable damage to a retri, and thus should be more than capable of doing 0.0 Sansha belt ratting.

1x Small energy neutralizer II
3x f-s9 large shield extender
6x shield power relay
for the lol factor. It's actually one of the best cruiser sized shield tanks availible.

For tech one cruiser ratting nothing beats an Arbitrator, I think.

QFT. I solo ratted in angel space with an arbitrator, go with this:
3x medium nos
1x small nos, or drone control thingy (range booster)
1x 10mn AB
1x web (langour or better, preferably the fleeting one)
1x tracking disruptor
1x whatever (I usually put either another TD or a sensor booster here)
1x MARII
2x explosive actives
1x either a plate or an adaptive nano ( can't remember what fits)
then 2x berzerkers, 2x valkyrie II, 1x warrior II
Won't kill things at blazing speeds, but if you use your transversal to tank the BS's, you should be fine. General strategy is to assign the 2 meds and the light to frig/destroyers, and the 2 heavies to cruisers, BCs, and BSs. Don't try to take on a mostly BC and cruiser spawn however, those hurt a LOT.
