I have managed to secure my first BPO, but I have absolutely no idea on how to use it...could someone point me in the direction of some decent tutorials on research and manufacturing etc, so I can put this thing to good use? Thanks for any and all replies

What BPO did u purchase??
Just being nosey...
You need:
Industry skill
production efficiency (PE)
PE to level 5 to be competative on the market, for your own use PE4 is fine...
Not sure on researching, but it isnt many skills.
Science and laboratory i think..
only need level 2 or 3 in them
ME10 is fine...

Even works in game! (Actually looks better there. hehe)
Depending on which type of blueprint it is, a 1-5 is a good Production level and 15-20 or so is a good Material Level to research to. Problem is almost every ME research slot is FILLED for WEEKS, so might as well just spend the few extra minerals at first while you learn the basics of building, and improve your blueprints later on.

Many thanks for the replies  I bought a cargo extender I BPO on escrow...just hope the market stays there now that CE II is available. Kylania, many thanks for the tutorial, it is exactly what I needed, and was very well done...short and to the point, making it easy to follow...thanks again
