Impressive.
Considering a week ago the first dread pilot finished training, it will be amusing to see the POS it is being stored at being destroyed, with the titan, due to the fact nobody can board/move the ****ed thing. -------- It's great being Amarr, aint it?

Because it is so much fun seeing how the political landscape develops in a free for all sandbox model where the second environment is relatively an uninfluenced environment under the same conditions.
Wouldn't be awesome to be able to see a second Earth? Maybe it would have developed into the same situation as our current planet Earth but on the other hand that planet could be an entire different one where humans are not parasites and would respect their environment instead of threatening it.
The paralels and differences would make a great study imo and would have made a great topic for the fanfest. ----------------------------------------------- The BIG Lottery |

It's interesting to see a second environment develop under "modern" rules. Tranq evolved as the game rules evolved. Serenity is developing under a far different environment.
Interesting stuff.

Its a pew-pew videogame. It might be interesting to see how cultural differences effect the development, but no one here is really qualified to remark on that.
They know the direction of the game, they have us to look at so they don't have to worry about the nerfs and patches at this point. There are no 'what ifs' (until Kali).
I just can't get excited about it.

I find this strange seeing the period of time it take to fly one, not to mention the time it takes to get the skills, the money, the resources, the manpower etc etc to even build one in safe areas?? We are not just speaking about the pricetag of over 100 billion isk, and their server is almost not out of beta! Actually, they told us at the fanfest that the Chinese server where on the stage where TQ where in 2003!! So somehow I find this strange for many reasons indeed..

Empty world economics =/ full world economics
Also they (apparently) have large OOG gaming clans entering with reserves of dedicated, capable and disciplined players, and an extant heirarchy.
Lastly, they've been watching us for a long time, across the gulf of space, with intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic they slowly but surely drew their plans against u-

as an aside, If they ever linked our server to their server the battles would be AWSOME but ultimatly one-sided.

Its not really a killboard... more like a stats board... it doesnt show who killed who, but only who killed how much. No names are attached to anything except for who built the first (insert ship name here), along with the alliance/corp they belong to.
Tho... i wouldn't mind getting that type of Stats board either...

imo it's not really a sandbox. looks more like people that have been playing on tranquility and got plenty of experience in what is good and what sucks and how to do things efficiently are now powergaming the chinese cluster. it doesn't seem to evolve, it's just a race for uberness. like in other games where a new server opens. people race to be the first of this or that with full knowledge of game mechanics.
certainly not every chinese player has full knowledge, but those that are forming the current big picture sure do. just look at edelweiss' report at freighter build and do trade runs, farm plexes, etc.
but keep it up, edelweiss, interesting stuff :) --

Yes and even if they didn't actually play on tranq they have all the knowledge of the game we didn't have 3 years ago by just reading forums etc. Only thing they don't have compared to us is actual skillpoints, and maybe T2 BPO's. It's like starting Doom 2 from level one when you've already completed the game once already - you may not have the minigun yet but you're going to be doing quite well anyway.

QFT actually... if you look at the stats, most of the ships used for PVP are appearantly Ravens and Caracals... meaning that the Serenity is still in the newer missile using phase... if a battle really were to break out between TQ and Serenity, the TQ would win simply because we have more gun users that would be infinately more useful in fleet battles.

I think this is the clearest way to illustrate the need for focus on player to player employment, and a general passing of grind-based content. At the very least, we need a second tier economy.
You need debts, overhead, and lots of periodic, multi-party oversight on the good old means of production. Business-driven content need to take the forefront over boredom-driven content.

It's not but seems the GM there just don't wanna do better work. As it will cause big problems.
No "players" will be interested to spend thier time mining.
I will suggest CCP desine some stuff which can be build and mine as what pos did.

I think that's something our Chinese friends haven't quite figured out yet. I mean, they're building a Titan that NO one will be able to fly for at least a YEAR. So it's just gonna sit at a POS doing nothing for all that time.
As someone already pointed out, it's likely to be destroyed because no one will be able to move it.

Titan can't fit in array to be assembeled and launched anyway. GM has to move them to stations, even on our server. I assume a GM on the china cluster will do the same. Rather smart building them now when noone has dreads to threaten them actually.

Edited by: Maestro Ulv on 17/11/2006 12:00:22 Eve China seems very arcadey to play. Maybe I am completely off the track here but they seem to mine faster, have skills way in advance of a noobish player on tranq does and have access to all the ships.
Personaly Id not last long in the game over there, there seems very little to aim for or reason to aim for it, but as some of you have already pointed out thats the way they play. Very different mind set both politicaly and gaming by the looks of it.
I guess im too **** old. Hell I remember mining in the Mega because that was the only ship available to me that did it "fast".
Wonder if new players on tranq feel the same about eve as the China players do, with everything being there already?
Maybe I should just go get a coffee instead of sitting here wondering :)
*after edit* Good reading about it though, great work OP.

Znathsume, it's unfair to generalise a quarter of the world's population because of some people's actions. No doubt there'll be some people who'll behave as you describe, and no doubt there'll be some people on the Chinese server who could hand you your ass on a plate ; )

"Chinese farmer" is an ignorant label, that really says nothing at all except about the people who coined it. Just like me calling you a "total idiot" doesn't make you one, only your actions can do that.

I don't know how similar or not the Chinese server is to ours but I find it rather curious that someone can already fly that thing...maybe not. I think they're just building it and there's a character parallel training for it. Either way, its insane. Another thing that I seriously suspect is that the Chinese players are "tag teaming" the game. 24x7x365. More than one player accessing the same account, just like their macroers. |

Care to argument why do you *think* its an ignorant label for example take Asian games especially mmorpgs , work style and culture background, base your argument on it. For me its a fact shared amongst social researchers. Its a really deep problem , for example in countries like Korea lack of creativness has become a major social problem and is even acknowledged even by the goverment
