This one's probably come up a couple times, but I can't find anything covering it when I dig through google.
Basically - what does an EMP blast do to the implants used for being a capsuleer/clone trooper?
AND
How do the effects of EMP blasts affect the clone transfer process? Would it interrupt the process, leading to operator death?
Or are implants/capsules shielded against these effects somehow?

Inside the Pod the capsuleer is protected from everything short of things physically hitting the Pod. When the Pod blows up the Capsuleer is actually killed just before the explosion by a high-res brain scan that fries their brain, this info is then transported almost instantly to the station that they have set up to receive the information and implanted into a new Clone.
As far as the soldiers go, I assume you mean DUST ones, they are actually made to be short lived as the tech that is used in their scans and revival is way harsher than the ones that capsuleers use and the implants they use are shielded against most any EMP blast that wouldn't cause the persons brain to fry. |

So I guess if an EMP blast went off just as the capsule broke open, it still wouldn't interrupt the signal? Awesome, thanks for the info |

Because of the nature of the transmission, damn near instant even from the reaches of WH space which aren't even in the observable universe from New Eden, I doubt that anything short of specified shielding would stop the transmission. |

It would appear that both the Pod and the armored suits function as a temporary "Faraday Cage" to allow the final brain scan and transmission.
In the mere nanoseconds it takes for this process before the data is lost. Not EMP Blast proof but resistant enough to complete the final tasks.
Or so it would seem.
Just how much is left we may discover when it is revealed why the "Drifters" have an interest in capsuleer corpses.

They are called Flux Grenades and the worst they do is knock out a Drop Suits shields. That being said the Clone Soldier implant is somewhat different to that of a Capsuleer. |

as mentioned above, inside the pod you are pretty much immune. outside however, I would see an EM Blast taking out those implants not hardened against EM attack.
Would be interesting to see a few dozen capsuleers suddenly call out in agony as their implants at fried in their heads after a rouge "baseliner" popped an EMP in orbit..

Oh, right. I completely forgot I already wrote on this topic.
If you've got implants and you're exposed to an EMP blast without protection, your implants will suffer for it. If you have cranial or cardiovascular implants, an EMP may kill you or leave you crippled if you don't get help quickly. However, decent versions of these vital implants will likely come with various degrees of internal shielding and redundancies to at least keep you alive.
That said, note that the people in the article were not capsuleers. I'm not entirely certain whether capsuleer implants would be shielded (due to being high-end), or unshielded (due to being used by people who always have external shielding).
