From what I have read, they do run out of cap, but as they don't need cap to activate modules it doesn't really have the same effect as it would having a player run out of cap.

I've also been told that if you 'nos' them (use a nosferatu module to drain their cap), you don't get a whole lot out. From the smaller frigates, one or two cycles and they are drained. It doesn't stop them from doing their stuff, but gives you a bit of free cap. You just have to keep switching to new targets...

Well, they have a capacitor, but from what I hear it's small and you can drain it for a little bit of energy, but not much, and it otherwise doesn't affect their ability to shoot and defend themselves. So, in effect, no.
They also have fewer but more powerful guns... like, if you see Punisher type NPC's, they only have 1 gun even though the Punisher can install 3, but their gun is 3x as powerful I guess. That was done to reduce lag I think.
I don't know if their approach speeds follow the regular ship speed rules. I think their initial rush to get to you is faster than normal.

To recap: -NPCs have a fixed capacitor reservoir. -They do not appear to regenerate capacitor (less to calculate). -Modules are not supposed to use capacitor to activate mods. (Hax.) -Allegedly, either applying NOS, or having no capacitor reduces the repairing capability of the npc. Either frequency or amplitude. -Lack of capacitor may or may not have other undocumented effects on NPC stats.

i dont think this happens.
all i think that happens is that npc have a limited amount of cap you can nosferatu from them.
they do however have endless cap for recharging shield / armour. they also have endless ammo and they seem to be able to fire missiles much further than players can.

I have run 2 heavy NOS on a warp scramming NPC frig. It never stopped scramming me despite the fact it must have been sucked dry in 1 cycle. It had to be killed with drones. This is a real let down as far as I am concerned.

Edited by: Bulletproof Cupid on 17/11/2006 12:56:45 Yeah I stopped using nos on my npcing pilgrim as it was of little help. Changing to 3 guns helped much more than the nos against npcs.
