I fear a bit rokh and rigs, if they will not be overpowered toys.
Invention sounds nice to. Warp core stabs good tough it wont nerf every combat usage of wcs.For example im not so sure if it will work against vagas, theu often got autocanons... - A knight in space, war veteran. The Amazing Fire Eaters webpage |

Rigs?
Any changes to sensor damps? Dmg mods for damps?
AFAIK, rigs don't stack with eachother (well they do in a good way with no penalty if u know what i mean - think cargo expanders). Anyway, 3x missle dmg mod rigs on a cruise raven and u get 820 damage with a few BCUs in there. Or you can put the missle guidance rigs so u can hit interceptors doing 5k/s for 50 dmg with t1 missles (edit that may be precision - can't remember)
And everyone that Jav torps were overpowered

I'm wondering about the post Kali alliance map. Who will dash to the new space, who will leave his current space behind etc. Part of me is hoping the new space will be so undesirable to most that EVE Uni can finally have a few systems
Also excited about most other stuff. Not sure if the new ships add that much but I guess it's too early to tell. At EVE Uni we'll be interested in Invention obviously, that's partly what universities are for

Hmm This isnt good change imo, it saves the need to listen to an FC and focus fire, all player will have to do is click the F1-F8.
I wonder whats next? a command for FC which activates modules on all ships in his fleet? ------------------ Its great not being an Amarr, aint it? Save Tranquility! |

Originally by: KIAEddZ Kali is bringing so many drastic alterations to combat. The WCS nerf is primary for us, KIA do not use wcs, anyone caught doing so is repremended and faces expulsion if caught a second time, so having them nerfed, has made KIA so happy. I mean actual celebrations when the news filtered in.
CCP implemented this one extremely well! There was a drunken party in BoB when this one broke!
Originally by: KIAEddZ Then of course you have the HP bonus :( great for aour cap ship pilots, not so great for our gank squadrons... we shall see how that plays out.
Tbh, I don't really see this as having much of an effect except dragging battles out a bit. In general, ships don't die as much to damage as they do to being warp scrambled while taking that damage. Cruiser sized and up, you'll generally get out of a fight if your not scrambled. The HP boost will not really change that much. Most gank kills are 'many vs. few', and the end result will not change I think.

Edited by: Jenessa on 16/11/2006 15:32:40 I'd have to say the best things about Kali are :
1) WCS Nerfed 2) Scanning 3) Rigs
When we heard WCS were getting a nice hit with the nerf bat we were delighted, especially as several pureblind residents came to mind who we knew where going to be totally screwed over by this. I've always been of the opinion if you want to fight someone, try and kill someone and take their loot then you should put it on the line too, not have WCS to try and escape with if it goes sour.
The scanning, well what more can I say but about time, scanning as it is now is far too complicated and restrictive. The new system promises to be a much better system.
And last but not least rigs, I think these could be a real help to people, it's gonna take quite some time for people to test out the different types available, to see what works and what doesn't but a lot of fun will be had in those experiments I'm sure.
As for other things in Kali like the hitpoint increase, I think it's a good idea on the whole, I think also the massive HP increase on capitals is an excellent idea too, these ships are expensive to build and fit out, they are set apart from other ships in Eve and as so I think they should be very hard to destroy and the HP boost they are getting I think fairly relects this. Also the new ships generally look to be pretty awesome too. I have my heart set on a Malestrom and a Rokh, they both look to have excellent potential.
All in all if Kali goes as planned I think it will be one of the best patches CCP have done to date. I dont think I can remember being as excited about previous patches as I am about this one. I really am looking forward to it

Agreed, I can only hope there will be no 'off plane' style safe spots..
When I first could fly Cov ops with probes, took me a while to practice on a friend and get it right. I liked the complexity, its all good imo, but too many restrictions such as the off plane safes, off grid, or people moving safe spots every 30 secs (is this gonna change in Kali?) ------------------ Its great not being an Amarr, aint it? Edited by: Rahn Altyr on 16/11/2006 16:47:11 I think Kali is going to have a pretty big effect on the "n00b" corps who operate almost strictly in empire. The starting skill sets for new players are ridiculous. I created a new 'toon on the test server, and started off with frigate 4, nav 5, ab 5, and iron will 4, with some other fairly juicy stuff. And this was without trying to break it.
Whining and moaning aside, newer players will be missing out on the "OMG, I'm soo useless" experience, which is when you learn how Eve works, and if it's going to work for you as a game. This makes the learning curve much steeper, and tbh, its pretty tough as is. So, I feel that fewer incoming players will stay with Eve, and most of those being the gung-ho PvPers.
Add onto that the added 50% hp, and you'll probably get some pretty headstrong n00bs who think they can conquer all of eve. That makes me happy. Much less empire carebears, and more pitched battles in 0.0.
EDIT: Did they change the shield recharge times? My brain may be off doing the math off of 2 hrs of sleep, but doesnt 50% more shields -> 50% better recharge? With shield management at 4, that would mean an 80% better than current recharge rate, without taking shield operation into account.
Also, to keep this post on topic, I think Dark will continue as Dark has been doing as is has for the time I've been in it: having fun and growing. The Dark is Rising. Come, and rise with us. |

I disagree. I will give you an example why: I convinced a friend of mine (RL friend) to leave WoW and give EVE a try.
He started the 14 days trial, but guess what? -since he is so useless, no corp wanted him - and he ended up the trial just doing up to lvl2 missions and thats it.
He never got to try real content of eve. He never got taste of pvp in proper corp. He got back to wow.
If that doesnt convince you.. nothing will. ------------------ Its great not being an Amarr, aint it? Save Tranquility! |

Rohk: This is going to be my favorite ship of the game. I should have tech 2 425's about the same time these come out.
Nerfed WCS: There is a EVE god! Thank you thank you thank you.
Vagabond: About **** time. This ship is nearly unstopable. There is something inherently wrong with a HAC being able to go fast as an interceptor. It's full of crap. And the damage it deals while being able to get out of any situation is just total BS. I know, Minnie pilots don't get much etc, but you have to admit going that fast is just total BS.
Scanning and probes: About time they made it intuitive. I am really looking forward to 3-D scanning and seeing where things are at as opposed to "Planet V" and no relative distance to you etc.
Tier 2 BC: We all know this is going to have a major impact on HAC prices, mainly the Cerberus. It's the reason why I sold my cerberus and I am going to stick with the eagle: 280 mil for a cruiser is just plain crazy. Drake is going to be so nice. BPO is going to be bought for ym corp no doubt about it thats for sure.
Rigs: I am also very excited about this. I need to read a bit more about them. But with rigs, we are heading in the right direction. This adds a whole new realm of customization possiblities.
Now I wish we could get some more info on the other kali patches with faction warefare etc.

I personally cannot wait until Kali. I love the new hitpoint increases. Yes battles sometime last forever, but now I feel that the battle is more strategic in nature over "plear dear god let my modules activate quickly".
I think the WCS nerfs were very well thought out, and I don't recall reading any significant complaints about the changes. I do hope they increase drone hitpoints as well, or else drones (specifically fighters) will be very much nerfed.
I also started to think about the warp to 0km in relation to fighter drones as well. During a fleet battle, getting fighters aggroed on you, all you now have to do is to warp to a gate and jump through. Yes this removes the person from the fleet longer as he mwds back to jump into the original system, however I expect to see a lot less kills as a result of fighters.

I agree with this and I believe CCP does as well according to Oveur at the last fanfest. I believe they are looking into it. I do hope that factional warfare will help newer players get involved into the more enjoyable aspects of eve (mainly pvp / pve) much faster and feel more involved in the outcome of battles (rather then running the same missions over and over with no real changes to the storyline).
I think rich dynamic stories in which players feel that they are contributing to something larger then themselves will help ease new players into the game, as well as help them understand a game as complex as Eve. It would also help if the agents would somewhat help newer players setup skill paths for their career. To many newer players don't understand the skills and/or train up the wrong ones. Couple that with the advice you get in the NPC corps, and greifers, you get a bad experience for the new players that don't have "advanced" friends teaching them the way.
Perhaps there could be "training agents" where the agent says "what career path would you like", you say "a pirate", the agent says "OK, I see you are Gallente, lets get you trained up for a destroyer and 125 II's to begin with, and somewhat teachs the newer players all the supporting skills (surgical strike etc.). that will help them become a much better pilot. Later on that player could decide that pirating doesn't suit him and go onto something else, in which the agent would then set a new skill path for them.

The shield recharge time is going to increase by 50% as well, so hp/s will remain the same.
However, with the 50% increase in shield extenders, the effect on shield recharge will be greater with them than it is currently.

The HP buff is both a positive, and a negative. On one hand it'll make fleet combat far more interesting. Blowing up in a hail of lag before you can activate a single modual might be a bit less of an occurence come kali. On the other hand, it'll make gate snipping a bit more of a challenge. The WCS stab should more than account for that negative so long as you have a few decent tacklers.
On the Rohk. I want to see how it play out. Will there be fleets full of rohk's at 249km's blowing the crap out of people? Who knows. Obviously the Rohk will be exploited to it's fullest. Deep down, I kinda hope CCP would drop max lock range on pc's to about 120km's.

Yes the Nerf on T2 ammo is the only thing i am displeased about. Makes no sense to me at least to have a t1 fitted Rokh be able to snipe more effectivly then a t2 fitted mega or tempest which takes a LONG time to train for.
I just hope that rigs can compensate for the reduced damage and range. Perhapsthat was the intention? But yes Kali in general looks to be an exciting update!

This quote outlines the most exciting thing for me. At least CCP is going in the right direction in terms of negating one of the biggest advantages in the game....ISK power.....It saddens me that whenever certain modules in the game are sold the money is 99% of the time going into the pocket of certain people based on what time zone they live in.
