The latest Dev Blog from Torfi says we (pod pilots) are the rock stars of EVE. So, who is Seleene, Istvaan, spiralJunkie, Hardin and everyone else? More to the point, who's brave enough to admit they are Jon Bon Jovi... or Gary Glitter?

Bleh...I sorta like eve being space-only.
If there's another game, I hope it doesn't pull people away from space flight for long... heck, I wouldn't mind if it's another game altogether.
Walking around station would be great for meeting a storyline agent at a seedy bar or a luxurious office in a cutscene, but for just walking around? eh...
Although it might help stop character sales over eBay and like services; since people will become more attached to their characters.
If you assign a "name" to a "pod"; and that's it- people don't care much about the characters- they care about the items and skills. If you assign a "name" to a "face", as is now, people still don't care much since they don't SEE their characters doing anything, it's still mostly about the items and skills. If you show the person the entire body, moving around freely, that makes people attached to it. My last MMO, every member of 5 races looked the same in their body; and there only 8 different faces/hairstyles, and two different colors for each. That STILL got people very attached to their characters, to the point where most of them are very sad when they delete them, and not just because of their friends or the memories; but because of the character itself.

Semi-seriously, how many rock stars do you know of that have their own personal battleships? Or know how to use them?
I can't think of any real-world (present day) analogy to veteran pod-pilots. The Chairman of JCS might come close in terms of resources, but he is a bit less free in his decisions. He won't live for ever either - in terms of the game universe, your character might.
