Before I go into a rant, I want to state for 3+ years this has been a very good game. In the last 6 months though I have seen it become a shadow of itself. It has blossemed into a HUGE player population with now at leat 30 to 40% more game options (ships & modules), but have becomed so burdened that the player/company interaction has dwindled substantialy. I understand the burdans as a company owner and operator of response time, but a week to 2 weeks for even a "We are sorry, but we are unable at this time to fully correct your issues with a petition. This is a automated response". I mean at least 6 months ago the computer automated polite I am behind message was there! I fully understand the swamped overwelming letters they get. But now I feel like we are but needle in the haystack. I have 2 charachters with 34 to 25 mill skillpoints, and its gotten to the point I am looking for another game. I long for the days Yulai actually was the busy hub with 100 players. To think that they took out the highways of eve to make it better is absurd. The lag has increasd 100 fold. I just peronaly wish CCP could remeber there roots before the game starts to spiral down the path of other games over the last few years that got so big and profitable they lost there fan base.
Withall this said,I hope the masses down respond with the "how great EVE is response" when you were not around for the better times of EVE. Dont get me wrong, I love the improvements, but at what cost did we get?

To be fair, I filed a harassment petition a few days ago and it was dealt with within five minutes; my last reimbursement petition was reimbursed within a week.
I've also been playing for more than three years, and I believe that EVE is much more successful and better to play than it was earlier. Right now we're fighting alongside FIX and BoB against RA and AAA down south, and it's been some pretty incredible fights. While lag is a problem, CCP is taking steps to reduce it. As to the lack of interaction between players and developers, you've only got to look at the ships and modules forum or the Kali forum to see the interaction.
As a game developer myself I think they're doing an admirable job keeping the game fun and popular, and continuing to eb true to EVE's principles. _______________________________________________

wah! wah! wah! *****! *****! *****!
do you have any idea of the technical changes they are introducing right now? not to mention planning fanfest and entering final stages of kali? what would be the point of fixing your bug only to have revelitions re-introduce it? they'll get back to small patchs and bug fixes when they have the time after rollout. and since thats likely to be a really big bug fest they'll have their hands full.

and if you were , infact, a 3 year player, with multiple 20mill + accounts im sure you would understand the underlying reasons for the growing pains, even if you were a kid.
not many games can go from having 3k people in peak to 30k with no problem atall, and still manage to keep the majority happy.

Maybe players file to many petitions ? It sounds like you are a professional in it, because you know the state so well.
I've filed 6 or 7 petitons or so with my accounts. I remember 3 stuck-petitions and 2 petitioned macroers and one harrassment in over 2 years. ( Have given up on macroers/isk-sellers). No reimbursements. That's it.
If I'd lose an expensive ship and it happened MAINLY because of the server status, then I'll surely petiton it, but so far it was usually the enemy, who killed me in the first place and once a cdt, but not the fault of laggy server. I usually escaped in node crashes. So nothing to petition. Like I said, if I'd die really because of a node crash or lose a dread because the server makes it almost unplayble, I'd petition, but otherwise not.
Guess if all people would only petition, what's really petitionable and worth it, then the response times would be faster.
cdt/con-loss vs. regular log-out. A proposal ...

At the loss of nostalgic memories?
I have difficulties grasping what is your actual main point. Perhaps the issue is, that although the game keeps mostly improving, you've grown out of it?

I had to deal with CCP's customer support several times. Each time they solved the problem to my satisfaction.

Edited by: Tarkan Kador on 18/11/2006 19:28:22 CCP says that it is founded on the premise that they want to foster a friendly relationship with the players. The problem is, nobody can be friends with 150,000 people, or even 15,000.
That is why there are only a few who are considered friends, like Cabadrin from MC, who played for three years. Of course they'll answer his petition, and give it priority, because he is their friend.
You see though DrunkenDwarf, they can't be friends with everyone, which is why you and I have to wait in line and get the form letter. We aren't their friend, we are just consumers, and get the standard treatment every other MMO company gives out, which is not much at all.
