I used Photoshop CS and a Wacom Intuos 2 Tablet. If you're interested in developing your own style i reccomend looking at other artist that you admire and then attempt to emulate the parts of their style that you like the most in your own work. There are alot of great free tutorials and walkthroughs on the internet that will help to teach you how to use Photoshop and even particular painting techniques.

Thx for the tips, looks like a drawing board really helps since all the artists that I have spoken to seem to use it and recommend it.
O and to add to GarthagkÆs comments, if you want an Ishtar find someone who is willing to trade one for one of your pictures!

I just have one small detail about it that bugs me. The pod sticking out of the Omen in the front, it's on the wrong side  .
Still makes for an awesome wallpaper though.
