Based on past history and here solely for your amusement. I posted this on our corp forum and it got a few chuckles so I'm posting it here to give your belly some laughs in case your football team loses today.
Nov 23 in the USA, Thanksgiving Day - Yee hah! 4 day weekend for us. Play Eve all 4 days and enjoy cuz all hell is about to break loose.
Nov 26, Quality Control says don't launch yet, too many game breaking bugs. Devs agree.
Nov 27, Marketing dept sees hundreds of millions of holiday shoppers potentially buying other games and panics..."launch! launch!"
Nov 28, CCP releases a major patch that is buggier than a canadian fishing trip. Servers down all day while patch is deployed.
Nov 29, Servers come up only to crash repeatedly. Your "long" skill training finishes. CCP promises miracle hotfix at DT.
Nov 30, Server up and down, you get to log in towards the end of the day but get disconnected before you can start a new skill. Petition queue has already piled up a 14 day backlog.
Dec 1, Half the people trying are able to log on but can't do anything but spin their favorite ship around in the hangar because the game is unplayable. Petition system mysteriously breaks and is down for the next 5 weeks.
Dec 2-15, More hotfixes, each creating new and bigger problems while partially solving old ones. Good news - almost everyone is able to log in and enjoy the bugfest now adding to the lag. Eve-O forum mysteriously goes down after it's flooded with complaints and death threats for the last 3 days.
Dec 16, All of CCP goes on holiday until Jan 2nd 2007, leaving a single junior GM to make sure the place isn't vandalized by angry customers mad enough to make the trip.
Jan 2 2007, CCP hires every man woman and child in Iceland between the ages of 8 and 80 to work on the petition queue. They petition system is mysteriously working again. This is a good time, any ships you lost you'll get back w/o question just to clear the queue.
Mar 2007, Game is finally playable, server reboots are reduced to less than 2 per day and the petition queue is now under 45 days. Devs anounce Kali 2 will be released April 1.

from reading the kali test forums, i think kali will not see tranqulity till maybe mid december if were lucky, if ccp forces it on the 28th we players are in for a long rough ride to crash after crash and players loosing ships and all kinds of trouble
but i keep hoping that ccp comes through, i realy am looking forward to kali, i have continued to play for this relaese. if it wasn't for the NEW content in kali i would have left eve along time ago

Your joke is much to close to ccp's patch history in the past to be funny.
I have a BS 5 prepared so I can be away for a few weeks. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

have you been on the test server? i cant see there being shed loads of crashes ect there are small bugs aroiund and then what i see as the main issue is the balanceing but that is down to add bonuses and the "NERF HAMMER" (yes they upgraded it 250% the effect) generally screwing ship over behond belife

Edited by: Nymos on 19/11/2006 18:58:26 don't be so pessimistic. after all these optimizations since dragon and with the added hardware (you're kidding, 40% more nodes? where?) there can't be any lag anymore. i'm sure it's all your imaginations :P
the past days i actually tried to pvp some again after getting frustrated by lag and disconnects. i didn't notice any improvement while jumping. in fact, every time i jump into s-u in syndicate i get stuck even if there is nothing at all on the other side. totally retarded...
kali patchday will really be chaos and mayhem, will be interesting.... /me goes back to doing stuff that is less of a waste of time as bothering with the bugfest that is eve.
edit:

don't forget, every time after patch day when the server behaves like a sick puppy they said "omg, those are issues that couldn't be tested on such a small scale on the test server and sisi doesn't exactly match tranquility etc etc". --

U missed out the couple of weeks where the server runs smoothly just prior to Kali being implemented
I remember Christmas last year.
So this year will not be relying on Eve for holiday fun.
Anyone got a count of the days Eve has been unplayable for this year ?

actually how u can help well get onto SISI when youre camped in station or just bored - load up the latest patch - simply just keep submitting bug reports try all elements ( missions, PVP production learning POS as much as u can manage of the new stuff) keep those quality bug reports going in
The quicker CCP can find the bugs the less chance of game breaking bugs on deployment we have another round of test patch upgrades today and it the lag is less and the bugs look to be much less as well which is a good sign

Test server stability != Tranquility stability. This has been proven repeatedly in the past. 300 people pounding on a build is NOTHING server side compared to 25,000 people pounding on a build. Hell, 300 people is barely enough to test a single node (which is probably why you get the kind of stress tests Sharkbait has been running lately). Not only that, but Eve is so complex that it's functionally impossible to test every single situation in which a bug could occur with a new piece of code. The first week or two after a major patch always sucks. It's a fact of life. Set a month long skill training. ----------
I say what I mean, but I don't always mean what I say. |

Kali will be delayed because not all Bob,ascn,LV and -V- fast login and nodecrash applications arent compatible with kali patch.

Edited by: Shagrath Xarra on 21/11/2006 11:55:54 Why do you guys say train a month long skill? Is it because the server could actually be down for a month or because you will get most of that skill train free when it does come back?

the longest instability i have seen was with castor deployment.
people are just ****ting you.
and you could still set a skill after the 48h dt we had back then.
and yes it was not very stable for the first few days but nothing like people wanna make you beleave

Not so long ago, but my memory is rubbish. Was it just before RMR? Someone else would have to confirm. We had fleets of dreads in Jita, devs in titans etc. Only lasted a day or two - I think they wanted a mass stress test and that was the best way of getting tons of people on Sisi :)
