So i bought mine about a year ago and tbh ive never really used it for much apart from playing lumines on the toilet. I was gonna ebay it but got looking round the net and thought better of it. So basically i would like some decent site that other people use that describes how to downgrade it, use homebrews etc etc. The reason im asking is alot of the ones ive googled all have different guides so dont know which to trust. Any help would be great.

Heheh, I remember, my friend and I both went to town together and on the same bought handhelds, I got the NDS, he got the PSP and he laughed at mine saying it was a useless little kiddy toy but his could play movies. Guess which one got used for a week and then put in a drawer? so yeah, getting homebrew on your PSP will pump lots of new life into it, sorry I can't tell you how though, I don't know.

While I had my PSP all I would play was Xmen Legends 2, very good game. Also to be honest, one of the main points of the PSP would be its ability to run homebrew code, I forget the name, but there was this drum synth program someone wrote and I screwed with that a lot, being a drummer myself. Movies and the web browser with 2.0 are also very good.

You could try out this site: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/
All that they talk about there is homebrew (no iso's, pirated games, etc...) and there are guides for downgrading your PSP. As long as you read and follow the directions, you should be fine. Also, it is a huge network of sites for ps2, ps3, wii, gamecube, gba, ds, etc...

If you're running firware 2.5 or 2.6 (or anything prior to those), drop me a line with your Email addy and I can help you out. If you're on 2.71 you're stuck, at least for now. I was in the same boat and managed to figure it out by cobbling together the bits from all the various sites.
The best tutorial I found which explains everything is available here. I used that tutorial to get to 1.5 firmware, which like you say, lets you run homebrew apps, very useful for media and so on which the PSP doesn't support as standard. -------------
